Philips 3-in-1 Style Shaver QS6141/33 Dual Ended Shaver and Trimmer with Aqua Tec

Ok, so first things first. I'm neither employed nor getting paid by Philips or any company/third party for this review. I say this because i did alot research before buying a new trimmer and I came across some blatantly fake reviews. Even more disturbingly I found websites where you had to pay to get a good review about the numerous razors out there and some useless youtube 'reviews'.I have had a phillips 3000 series, FROM the 2006 range, and i have been using it maybe 4x/week or so since then. I have never oiled it and never even brushed it with the comb, just a jolly good shake and a rinse occasionally. Gutted to say the battery gave up last week.I purchased what i thought was the top of the range Wahl grooming station, tried it and gave up after 20 minutes because it was weak as hell. Useless compared to the old Philips.This Philips however, great powerful trimmer with adjustable lengths, incredibly good foil shaver, and a nice stand. The foil shave is the best thing about this and gets almost as close as wet shave. Well worth the price.

I almost brought this for £90 from boots however being a regular amazon user quickly checked online and found it much cheaper! This shaver has replaced another phillips that I have been using for around 5 years which I broke when rinsing under the tap.It works great the close shave razor is very good and leaves my skin very smooth to the touch which I could never do before with my beard trimmer. The trimming function is very easy to use, its smooth and feels great. I have rinsed under the tap and it still works perfectly.Looks nice in the bathroom too!

Summary:It's a good trimmer with some slight ergonomic issues, a "meh" foil shaver and a cool charging stand.Note:I originally left a 1 star review as the product came with the wrong plug.The item descriptions says a shaver plug, but it came with a 3 pin plug instead.However, Philips customer services were excellent and sent out a shaver plug straight away. Massive thumbs up to them!So the unit itself...I was originally going to get the series 5000 beard trimmer, however reading a number of review it seems that this unit has the exact same trimmer head with the addition of a foil shaver and a charging stand for only a pound or so more.I like charging stands - much more convenient than a cord (and they look cool!) and I figured the foil shaver is at worst just "there" and at best a nice addition.So in review:The stand:Bit flimsy, but does the job. A bit more weight to it would be good, but think I'm going to use some double sided tape to just tack it in place on top of the cabinet and it should be fine. Charges well and the contacts are good and secure.The foil shaver:Meh.I've not given it a big work out but it doesn't seem great.Then again I've not used one before so maybe I havn't got the knack of it yet.As said - this wasn't a massive deal breaker for me.The trimmer:Works well. It's nice being able to just run it under the shower / tap to clean it mid trim if it gets a bit clogged up. It needs a slightly different technique to my old trimmer (different comb shape I think) but think I've got the knack now and it gives a good consistent trim.The length settings are very solid and click reassuringly into place.The dual head is great as well. The smaller trimmer is perfect for outlining around my lip and general little detail work.Ergonomics:This is where I think a stand alone trimmer would be far better... The large, wide head of the foil shaver makes using the trimmer a bit awkward at times and can obscure the view if you have the trimmer inverted at all.It's not as comfortable and easy to use and this is the main reason for losing the star.Overall:Happy with the buy, and if I find a way to use the foil shaver a bit more then I reckon it will have definitely been the right purchase.

I have been looking for a powerful and robust multi function trimmer for awhile now and finally took the leap and purchased the Philips Style Shaver. Easy to use dry or wet, looks good and built to last. Boots sell this product at twice the advertised price of Amazon. Great value at £45!

Battery drains quick and the trimmer slows down after 5 mins, butter shaver is perfect. A bit disappointed.

Too heavy and covers a little flimsy

I have used one of these for years and it works great and the battery is still going strong, just needs a recharge once every few week. My soon had a different shaver which basically did the same thing after I bought mine, and his is now fit for the bin. So I bought him one of these.

I bought this shaver in November 2014. I have used electric foil shavers for many years, and this looked a good buy. However, within 2 months, a hole appeared in the foil. Amazon were very good and sent me a replacement and I returned the damaged one. I know how to use a shaver, and know that the foil is delicate, and so was confident that this must be a fault in manufacture, and I was sure it was not misuse. However, after two months, again, today the replacement has a hole in the foil, in exactly the same place as last time! There must be a problem with this shaver, as the cutter must be touching the foil and wearing a hole through. I guess that I will just have to buy another make......Amazon, please note!
