We've been using this on our Kia Niro plug-in hybrid for a little over a year now. This charger has been fantastic for our use, which we plug into an ordinary outlet in our garage. It is only a 110v charger, so it is not as fast as a electrician-installed 220v charger, but you don't need an electrician to install it. Takes about 7 hours to fully charge 35 mile electric range Niro before the hybrid kicks in, so overnight charging is perfect for us.

This has many nice features that makes this product so useful. It comes with the adaptor allowing this to plug into 120VAC or 240VAC outlets. It also comes with a nice slim form zippable carrying bag. The J1772 has an attached protective cover for when not in use (as shown in the included photos). We own a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV Premier that currently averages 3.8 miles per KWH during the winter. Therefore at 240VAC 16A, we charge at about 14.5 miles per hour, allowing us to easily charge to "Hill Top" level before next day's use. At this point, we have no need to get a 240VAC 38A L2 charger.I was a little apprehensive at purchasing this at first, due to some reporting a red light falsly indicating a bad ground. However, we have not experienced this except when a bad ground had existed, or a bad connection, specifically with a 240VAC outlet. We have never experienced any issues such as heating up with the cord, plugs, J1772 connector, or main logic board enclosure heating, not even when plugged in to 240VAC.

End that plugs into wall socket tends to get hot. Not sure if this will cause issues in future.

Initially bought as a travel charger, but used as my main charger until we installed a home charger. That never happened because this charger (when plugged into a 220v outlet in my garage originally used for a well pump) consistently provides 3.3kW to my car, which is all our family has needed under day to day driving conditions. An overnight charge restores around 70+ miles of range. It's been a year with no complaints!

Apparently no one is buying this charger to use the NEMA 6-20 plug that allows this charger to do the higher rate Level 2 (level II) 16a (16 amp) rate of charging, because it does not work properly at this voltage. Using a regular 120v plug the charger works fine utilizing the adapter, but as soon as you plug it into a 240v outlet it says there is a ground fault (solid red light, in the book it lists this as a PV fault) but that is not the case and the outlet is wired correctly. Leaving this review for all the others that run into this problem so they know it isn't the outlet and instead just initiate the return of the charger.Switching to the Dewalt charger that is double the price unfortunately has cleared up the issue as it correctly detects the ground is connected properly.

I really like how this doesn't drop my charging speed, and fits perfectly. I was skeptical at first because it wasn't OEM, but after my OEM melted within 2 years, this has stood the time. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a replacement.
