Maxell UR90 Audio Tape 90min Blank Media Cassette (5pk)

Quite surprised with the quality. Ideal to record and listen in boombox.

Considering these tapes are Maxell's cheapest they are a revelation,i have chrome type 2 types by Maxell and others and am amazed at how they perform on my Tascam CC- 222mk4 cd/cassette recorder which has no Dolby or other devices.the sound quality is astoundinding with astonishing dynamic range for the price which was £13:47 for 20 cassettes + free delivery.i have already re- ordered and have bought 65.these cassettes are every bit as good as I used to buy in the 80'sand seem to be even better quality both sonically and build of the cassette itself.There is no lack of highs,dynamic range etc and recording from Classic FM and other stations is simply superb.I have about 30 chrome 2 types both TDK and MAXELLbought at rip-off prices and see little or no benefit in sound quality,especially in the low end response,I have spent more time recording cassettes than CD'S (which are awesome on this Tascam machine) I have also bought the Tascam MD-CD1MK3 CD/player MD recorder and this is also amazing,I haven't got plenty of money I have had to wait while we brought up six children and then sell everything I own to afford such equipment but the sacrifice was worth it AND I've discovered that this set-up and these budget MAXELL cassettes give me amazing sound quality.i suggest everybody buys this product while at this knock-out price,these cassettes must be the bargain of a lifetime.go and buy now,I will be ordering more.

Came brand new and sealed - I only needed for testing purposes while refurbishing a 1970s audio centre and it seemed to record and play back nice and clear with no issues.

Tried them on my Yamaha KX-393 that I picked up from a charity shop for £25 connected to an iPhone 6S via the Amp to record streaming music over WiFi on Cable Broadband.Thus proving the Yamaha KX-393 was an absolute bargain being the condition it was in.And the tapes themselves are great as well. All varieties of Dolby Worked Well.Very Surprised at the reproduction of tape after all these years. But then, I never did play them on rubbish devices, which is what gave them a bad name.Enjoyed making a "mix" tape from streaming media.Now on the lookout for my favourite, CHROME tapes, but boy they're expensive.

There are many different variations of the 'maxell UR' Cassette. I've shown a few images of the cassettes I received in the 5 pack at different angles. I received 5 Cassettes separately, not in a sealed 5 pack, although all were sealed separately. This didn't bother me as it doesn't have any effect on the way they perform. They were recently discontinued by Maxell, although widely available, and the variations can be from Maxell cassettes from the UK, Hungary and other countries. The cassettes I received were all from Maxell Hungary as I have shown on a close- up photo. They arrived in a bubble wrap sealed envelope and for reference, they cost me £12 for a pack of 5 with free prime delivery. I've seen these vary in price as a 5 pack from £12 to £22, So keep your eye on the price, They sound okay without Noise reduction, But they sound better with Dolby B, For best results though and to eliminate all hiss, Try Dolby C or S, As I say, Decent Tapes for the money. I hope you found this review helpful. To be honest, I would recommend finding some FE90 cassettes on Amazon but just spend a bit more money, as they sound slightly better and have less noise. This is a good product and works very well on all my cassette players. Care with the recording level is needed as it is normal setting and not a high bias tape. It can be disassembled via the screws enabling the leader tape to be shortened and so converting the cassette to a quick-reverse version. Also a good price as the cassette tape is now "old technology" but I have been using them for 50 years so still like them!Graham Lewis.
