Great for the intended use
This was a present for someone so I can make no comment on its durability...however...it is made by CK who make excellent tools; it is clearly well made; the head is (solidly) fitted to the haft in a traditional fashion; the haft is hickory; the head is a good shape and weight for a young geologist. It has no appearance of poor manufacture so overall it SUGGESTS it will give a long service if looked after

Fab tool
Does exactly what is says on the tin. I brought it for my 9 year old niece as we where going fossil hunting on holiday. It was the right size for her and was lightweight, made easy work of the rocks, we even found some fossils! I definitely would recommend !! Thank you

Good product
Still going strong 3 years later. Perfect for my 9yo and 7yo. Would recommend to buy a chizzel too and safety goggles. Very sturdy, a good weight not too heavy. Would definitely recommend.

Heavier than expected
This was rather heavy for an eight year old to break the stones. Understandably so but an ordinary hammer was just as efficient. In fact that’s what she used in the end. A small one I add.

A great first step into fossil hunting
I ordered a couple of 200g geological hammers for my 10 and 7 year old daughters for a trip to the Jurassic Coast. The hammers are solidly built and well constructed and the right weight for them to wield effectively. That having been said, you will also need an adult weight equivalent to break into the harder limestone lumps found on the beach in Charmouth/ Lyme Regis. Nonetheless the girls were very pleased with their purchases which arrived impressively quickly and were well packed. Don't forget to buy your safety goggles too!

Not used this yet but good weight and design
Not used this yet but good weight and design. It is a gift for our Grandson along with a 6 inch chisel and protective spectacles also sold on Amazon. He is 6 years old and we are going to tale him fossil hunting.
