OtterBox Apple Defender iPad Mini with Retina Display, Aqua Dot

First of all. Yay Amazon Prime. This Otterbox defender, for ipad mini with retina display, was delivered in a day and a half. Now that it is assembled, it is fantastic. The stand is great and also functions as a cover or an extra piece of backing for the case. I bought the case because I constantly drop iPads, computers, phones, etc. It seems bulletproof. The struggle I had was with the assembly, so much so that I thought I was missing a part/piece. The assembly videos on the Otterbox website would not load on my computer. So I resorted to YouTube. I couldn't pry off the silicone shell case at all. I thought maybe my case was broken or defective. Well, thanks to YouTube I learned to use a stiff credit card to pry off the silicone layer. Once I did that, the rest of the assembly went very easily and the case still let's all the controls on the ipad mini function perfectly.

I bought this case to protect the ipad from the wear and tear of 4 girls 11, 10, 8 and 2. It's held the test so far. It does add just a slight bit of weight to the ipad but they have no problems with it so far. Their little fingers have been able to manipulate the screen and function all of the devices buttons.Putting the case on was a bit daunting at first. I had to watch a video to make sure I was doing it right. But once you have the case and rubber on it, you feel like it wrapped in kevlar.Another good thing was it comes with a screen protector that is hardly noticeable and doesn't limit any functionality. IMHO there is no other tough case that compares with it's durability.The added bonus is the hard detachable front cover that doubles as a portrait or landscape stand for the device with reasonable stability. Certain buy if you find this product under $40, worth $100.

We had an Otterbox Defender case for our previous iPad Mini, and I thought it was a good but not great case. It protected well but was heavy, drab looking, impossible to take off, and the screen protector had a noticable gap between the protector and the screen. It was with mixed feelings (and trials of a few other cases & screen protectors) that I bought another Defender for our new Retina Mini that our 2-year old will be allowed to play with.For some reason, this case "clicks" with me much more than the previous one. First off, the grey case is a great improvement over the black! That's personal preference, of course, but it doesn't look so dreary on a fun device. Second, in this example the screen protector sits flush with the ipad's screen, and there's no more of that annoying gap that made touch detection frustrating. Now, it is still heavy, and I've given up on taking the iPad out of the case for my own use, but the little improvements make a world of difference. I am also a big fan of the lid that converts to a two-position stand. Very satisfied with this case.

Very hard. Unbreakable. Kidsproof.

This is the best case for our iPad mini!! It is durable enough to keep it protected when my 2, 4, and 6 year old are using it. And I LOVE that it comes with the hard back stand. It makes it easy for my kids to prop it up to watch a movie! We are even able to use the stand on the front armrest of our Jeep for the kids to watch a movie while we travel!! My husband was a little skeptical of me spending so much for a case, but he tells me often that it was a smart purchase for us. We are not worried about the screen cracking or being scratched because it is fully protected.

Bought my Pink iPad mini cover last year on Amazon after I won an iPad in a contest (yay!)I've always been a fan of Otter boxes, since my first iPhone 3 (when my friend, A rough and tough guy wanted to get one of those made-for-working-men phones, and I talked him into an iPhone with an otter box. Don't worry, he's thanked me plenty).So when I won that iPad I thought it a good time to protect my investment. Let me tell you, I live in a basement, on a concrete floor. I drop that iPad probably twice a day. Why? Because I could care less about dropping it. I don't even think twice if the thing is about to slide off the bed. I just let her roll.Who cares? it's got an otter box on it.And trust me when I say, you're getting your money's worth on this one.My mom got a typical keyboard included case with her iPad 2 and then she dropped the thing on the ground (a parking lot) there's a massive crack across the screen. She freaked out, went out and bought herself a new one.What did she get to cover the thing with? You guessed it, an otter box.Which brings me to this review.I recently acquired some iPad Mini's for my nephews for Xmas (best aunt ever, or what?) and there was no question in my mind what case I'd use to protect their little gifts from Santa...I mean aunt Amy. The best case on the market.Spend a little money on a case to make sure your investment is protected.

I am not kidding when I say this, I am so glad I bought this for my daughter. Within a month of getting her iPad, she dropped it onto the edge of a metal dumbbell she had laying on the floor in her room, right on the front screen. I was actually standing there watching in horror as it fell onto the dumbbell. I almost freaked out, especially when I saw the small dent in the screen protector, but when I took the case off of the iPad, there was no damage to the iPad at all. It still looked brand new. Thanks Otterbox.

Very cute. This is the second otterbox I have purchased for my kids iPad minis, they are super durable and go me peace of mind when they run around with their iPads in hand. The only downside is that the buttons/ports can be hard to access and push, especially when new. We have had a small piece break off of the stand/hardcase however it has not had an effect on our use of the case.

This is quite simply the best case I've ever purchased for any iPad. It's much slimmer and unobtrusive than others I've used, and offers maximum protection from children at home and when travelling. I would not hesitate to recommend this well-constructed and rather good-looking case. If this case was a person (hopefully one I could call a friend) and we found ourselves in a life-or-death situation along with another non-OtterBox case which was also human, and OtterBox-person and non-OtterBox-person were each insisting that their chosen path in the jungle would lead us to safety...I don't even need to say it.

I bought this case together with the equivalent Otterbox 5s Case. As I had had an Otterbox case protecting my old iPhone 4 and liked the protection it gave it.I got this for my new iPad Mini with Retina display as I wanted something that gave maximum rotection.Firstly the initial (inner) case is hard to put on, there is no doubt about this. But the best way to learn how to do it properly is watch the Otterbox "How to" videos on You Tube.I have kids who often use my iPad to play games so would really recommend this case as it protects well if they drop it.I have used it for the last month and am very happy with the product and think it is generally good value for money.One minor gripe! The case covers the Home button well, but sometimes can be fiddly when you try to press it!

We have a 5 year old and this has been brilliant. We have the Otter Box Defender cases on our iPhones too. When you sell them when you upgrade the phones are like brand new as they have been so well protected. Same with the iPad. It's the best insurance for your phone and iPad
