Game-Changer for Towing Comfort and Bed Space
Game-Changer for Towing Comfort and Bed Space This thing is truly amazing! I give it a solid 5 out of 5. Swapping over to the Reese Goose Box was one of the best towing upgrades we’ve made. The difference in ride quality with the airbag system is noticeable right away—way smoother than traditional setups. Plus, being able to free up the truck bed when not towing is a huge win. What I Like: • The air ride system works beautifully. The built-in shocks, airbag, and rubber springs smooth out bumps and jolts far better than I expected. • It gives you a clean truck bed when you’re not towing—no bulky hitch taking up space. • It feels rock solid while hauling, and that 20,000 lb capacity adds peace of mind when moving heavy loads. • It’s compatible with a wide range of trailers, and the vertical adjustability was a nice bonus. • Installation instructions were clear and easy to follow. What I Don’t Like: • Nothing really to knock here—just be prepared for the install process. My Final Thoughts If you’re on the fence about switching to a Goose Box, I can confidently say it’s worth every penny. The ride quality, convenience, and overall build make this a standout upgrade. Tip for Buyers: Have the right tools (or some help) ready—this unit is heavy. Read through the instructions fully before starting, and don’t cut corners on safety—invest in quality chains, preferably the Reese brand ones made for this setup.

Ships fast good customer service, very helpful in finding correct hitch for my application
Love this hitch, towed our RV from VA to Yellowstone, down to UT and back Had to make air pressure adjustments due to elevation changes ( correct air pressure definitely makes a difference in ride quality) made for a good trip even though mountains and on reservation roads. Wish there was a lighter version though we have a smaller 10,000 lb trailer and this is rated for 20,000lb. Still with 18 psi in air bags it is a nice ride

Smooth ride
Background: I've towed with standard 5th wheels and the Curt Crosswing. I find standard 5th wheel to be too clunky and I don't like that there is even the possibility of drive-aways and ripping off your tailgate. Enter the Curt Crosswing with it's positive-locking bolt. Found it to be a great alternative, easy connect/disconnect, pretty good ride - but, you still have something relatively heavy in the truck bed. Third time around went this the Goose Box after several positive personal references. It is now my favorite option. The ride is much improved even over the Crosswing (I'm sure due to the airbag) and connect/disconnect is at least a positive lock and not as hard to do as expected. The left-to-right alignment is pretty easy while backing up, it's the front-to-back that's difficult without a spotter or a camera in the bed so you can see it from the side. I've also seen that some people use magnetic markers which can be bought here on Amazon, but that requires setting it up and removing it. To sum up the pros: - positive lock - smooth ride - adjustable for weight Now for some cons: - The air bag on mine loses some pressure after a month or so. I've heard this was a bigger issue with the older generations of Goose Boxes, this new gen was supposed to improve on that, not sure if they accomplished that, I'll have to see if it's just break-in related. - I had to bust out the angle grinder to get it installed, the hole patterns lined up but my fifth wheel had a brace that interfered a little. Not exactly Reese's fault, but worth noting. - The air valve is in a really tight little cutout. It's well protected there, but I had to get an angled chuck to get my portable air compressor to work. Conclusion: If I got a new fifth wheel, I would put a Goose Box on it. I guess that's about the best reference you can give an RV accessory.

Zero regrets!
This hitch is exactly what I was looking for. After careful research I decided to install the Reese Goosebox on my rig before picking it up at the dealer. Filling the bag is easy, although it was recommended to add a 90 deg fitting to help with access (I agree and did so myself). The ride is noticeably different when under/over inflated and when it’s “perfect” which tells me the airbags do make a BIG difference. Also the ease of loading and pulling with a gooseneck is a game changer. I highly recommend going with this setup!

Should be standard equipment
It took about 4 hours to install because I was very careful and working solo. I’ve since towed over 5,000 miles without issue. I recommend airing it up all the way before connecting the truck. It has an auto overflow valve. Once you get the trailer connected and start driving the overflow releases air until it’s at the max rating. I’ve topped it off one more time since then just to make sure it wasn’t empty (it wasn’t). It was a simple install and I think it should be standard equipment on all 5th wheels. I paired it up with a Reese ball and I’ve had no issues. I recommend spraying some silicon slide out spray where the ball goes before each outing to keep it from squeaking towards the end of the trip. I will say that you need to be patient when hooking up because the tolerance for left/right misalignment is non-existent which makes solo hookups quite the workout. I have a 4x4 ram, and I used the “normal” height. I max out the jacks when hooking up just to make sure I clear but I can tell that if I chose the other height setting I might have to be careful if not on level ground. Last thing I’ll say is that it tows beautifully and quietly.

Before you buy read my comments
Buyer be ware I bout this on June 18 2025. It is a very well made and solid gooseneck pin box. Very easy to install I do like it over a traditional pinbox. Fairly easy to hook up to. You do have to be right under it, not a lot of wiggly room. I put it on my Grand Design 320g. Pin box weight 2300lbs, dry weight 12.6k. My loaded weight was 13.9k for my trip. Yes I weighed it. A few issues on the 20k gen 3. The release cable is to short, and the lock open clip they use slipped and now its doesn’t work. Second Is the air fill value is next to impossible to fill without a modified air Chuck. Absolutely a horrible placement of the fill valve to fill it Very frustrating so if you do not carry your own air compressor and Chuck good luck on filling it. I just got back from a 4500 mile road trip on some very rough road. It lasted for about half of it when the air bag started to loose air and then gave out and wouldn’t hold air. Made for a very rough and very unpleasant 2500 miles of lots of chucking and bucking.home. It beat me up! I bought a new compressor and air Chuck and it won’t hold air. I’ve contacted Reese on the issue and told the service technician what happed and Paul laughed at me and told me “that’s next to impossible. we solid millions and this is the first airbag failure I’ve hear of” (Tell that to my neck and back and really Paul millions?) And to send him my invoice and they will get back to me. So sent everything in. So I’m in a holding pattern. I will update and let you know how they handle their warranty. I just want it fixed so I can continue my trip. There are some YouTube video on the issues I addressed and for the money I spent on it I would expect more. It lasted maybe 14 days out of 45 days on road trip from Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon and back to Nevada. Hoping to get it fixed before I cross back through over the crappy roads of Arizona It’s been over a month since I’ve requested warranty and I still have not heard back from Reese. So clearly they do not support or honor their warranty buyer beware
