As you can see I had a red I my hair. Unfortunately I woke up to extremely greasy hair this morning so it doesn't quite do the justice of how red it was. I could've lived with it though, had the dye given full coverage. It ended up an extremely patchy job on top of the fact the colour hadn't quite turned out as expected. I wanted a deeper mahogany and when it's freshly washed it's quite a garish red. So! After reading through a lot of the comments about this colour removal product I decided to go for it so I didn't have to go out with my hair looking like crap. If you're used to dying your hair from a box, then the instructions are extremely easy to follow. It's pretty much the exact same process. I was expecting the product to be stinking. I was expecting the product to attack my chest. I'm an asthmatic smoker and my asthma has been playing up along with my hayfever. The product did smell. But it wasn't stinking. Ammonia based hair dye smells worse. So this stuff was bearable. It also didn't really affect my breathing. I wrapped my head in clingfilm then puta towel on top for good measure and I left the product in for approximately 45mins then began the rinse process. No colour came away during the rinse and I wasn't sure if this was normal or not (I can now only assume it is) and I panicked a little. It wasn't until applying the buffer that my hair felt dry and almost brittle. So after I had rinsed that off, I took the advice of many on here, and applied a little conditioner. Then completed the next rinse process. I didn't put on any conditioner after this step as I bought a conditioning hair mask just for this which has left my hair silky soft (not quite as soft as it usually is after a shower) and smelling strongly of bananas. I knew from other comments that the red wouldn't completely lift and I was likely to be left with a gingery-blonde colour. It's gone more of an ash blonde which I can definitely live with for a few weeks to give my hair a rest before I dye it again. I plan on going back to my natural colour. Or as close as I can get. Im 37 with salt and pepper hair. My hair type is a mixed bag I'm afraid, it's thick, thin and fine as well as curly and frizzy. Genuinely got a full hybrid of both my parents hair. It can vary between dry and greasy. I can sometimes leave it several days before it needs to be washed. Or I sometimes have to wash it daily. Using hair products, blow dryers or straitners doesn't have an affect on how my hair wants to be that day. Overall this product worked incredibly well, lifting all the red tone from my hair. It didn't smell as bad as I expected and it didn't attack my already weak lungs. I would recommend conditioning at least once in between rinses and putting on a conditioning hair mask. 10/10 from me

100% works!! But beware of the SMELL!!!
Wow.. what can I say.. all the colour has been removed and I’ve actually been left with quite a nice ginger colour🙈 I have tried multiple hair dye removers and none of them has ever been able to remove any hair dye like this product did! 🙈 deffo would buy again and would reccomend, but make sure u are in a well ventilated room and u can cope with the smell😅😅

Very efficient product with no surprises
Easy to use. My starting color was a dyed medium-dark brown with uneven patches from multiple color treatments over the years. It lifted evenly, leaving my hair a beautiful light golden brown with subtle copper tones. The hair are however left quite dry. Following the instructions about thorough washing is essential to effectively clear the lifted deposits of colour. The smell is strong and lingers (hence why not 5 stars) but it’s not as overwhelming as some reviews suggest.

It's definitely lightened my hair
I have been using Schwarzkopf Real Red on my hair for years. Maybe 5 years, maybe more. I want a change. I wanted to go to a honey blonde. Bleach is not great for hair so I thought I'll give this a try. Didn't think it would do much but it has taken some of the deep red out. The condition seems decent, quite like it was before. It is a coppery ginger shade now. The roots where my virgin hair was coming through didn't get any change which is good. I put it all over my hair for an hour. Wrapped it in cling film, a shower hat and then put a t-shirt over too (trying to keep my head hot for this). I then turned the heating up. When the time was up I jumped in the shower and washed for around 15 minutes. Then used the buffer and washed for around 10 minutes. Then used some conditioner because my hair felt really dry. Washed that off and used the buffer again. Then one more conditioner. Climbed out and towel dried. Then threw a hair mask on for an hour. Washed that off, blow dried and took pictures. The instructions leaflet was good and explained the process well. The smell when putting it on was pretty bad. It was strong chemicals and rotten eggs. While showering it was just rotten eggs. So open your window while putting it on then I'd recommend leaving the room to air out and go into a small warm room away from that while you wait for it to strip out the colour. Hair loss was surprisingly minimal. Condition is decent and I'm happy. It's not where I want to be, I want to go lighter but it's helped me along my path for honey blonde. Will probably use a light bleach next but will first focus on oils on my hair and hair masks to try to help my hair before I start that as it's harsher.

Works well on blonde/grey hair when removing brown colour.
I have 70% grey hair that I have highlighted with 3 blond colours by my hairdresser. It was looking a bit tired so she suggested a toner. Unfortunately the other turned it a rich chestnut brown! She apologised & offered to remove it but I didn't have time that day. She suggested I tried a deep cleansing shampoo & that it would fade. I did that but it made little difference. I bought JoNas & it was brilliant. I t removed the brown & although my hair is a darker blonde it still has highlights & I am very happy with the result. The smell was not as bad as some suggest...perhaps they have improved the product. It does smell of sulphur when applying & finding but hardly noticeable once you have used the buffer. I then used a deep conditioner for 15 minutes which is 'fruity ' & that is the only smell once my hair was dried. I see from reviews many have difficulty removing red from dark hair but Brown from blonde or grey is very successful.
