Useful - if you have realistic expectations
Overall, I am pleased with this device. I have tested it with several different projects over the past week. Attached are example pics taken with the unit from some of the projects.I ran some new wires in existing walls, and needed to guide the rod for pulling the wire in the wall. I was able to stick the camera up into the wall to inspect (some walls had insulation), and to guide the rod into the hole in the box when it got close. One pic shows the split screen mode using both cameras simultaneously.I also used the camera to take a picture of the nameplate on a motor that was mounted in a location where I could not read it. One of the pictures is with the front camera, and the other is with the side camera. The front camera is slightly clearer, but both are useable for reading the needed information. The good:• I was very impressed with the brightness and clarity of the display. I could set it on a chair and see it clearly from the top of a ladder while pushing the rod down the wall.• This is the first endoscope that I have used with a side camera, and I found it to be quite useful.• As with all endoscope cameras in this price range, the focal length is fixed at a short range, but if the image is in that range, it is quite clear and better than other endoscopes I have used.• The unit is very easy to hold in one hand and reach all the buttons, while the other hand directs the wire with the camera.• The length of this relatively short cable to the camera is easier to control where the camera is going than longer endoscope cables that I have used in the past. The bad:• Several people have mentioned issues with making sure that the camera cable is fully plugged into the base unit. I did not have any problems plugging it in, but I have trouble sometimes taking it back out. It must be taken apart to store the unit in the included carrying case. I think that this connection on the cable will be the point of failure for many people, because the plug is difficult to grab, so it is easy to slip and pull the cable, which will cause the cable to break here eventually. Hopefully future revisions of this product will make this connector easier to insert and remove.• There is a rotate function for the image, but only 180 degrees, and there is no mirror image function. This made it difficult to get the image aligned how I needed to view it to guide the rod in the wall. I found that twisting the camera sideways in the wall, and using the side camera looking down worked as a substitute for mirroring the image, and I rotated the display 90 degrees to get the image aligned in the correct direction. Hopefully the ability to mirror the picture and rotate the image by 90 degree increments will be added in the future.Other comments:• When transferring pictures to a computer with the included cable, the manual mentions that you have to put the camera into “Data Transmission” mode. It fails to mention that you can only access this mode from the menu if the camera mode is selected (the camera does not need to be connected). The menu option does not appear if you are currently viewing the pictures on the screen.

Saves time.
Unit is constructed well and works as promised. Any of these type of cameras takes some practice to use and snake smoothly to get good images. This camera no exception. Works well in walls, drain pipe, and under truck to inspect wiring and suspension parts. Very useful and flawless operation.

It works ok.
It works ok. When I'm using the machine, I continually get a "no signal" notice. I then move the camera end around and I will get the signal only to lose it again a few minutes later. The camera images are really good. Easy to set up however the only issue so far was the "no signal" issue.

Works Great! Saved me Money!
Worked great! Helped me find a leaking pipe inside the wall. I was able to pinpoint the exact location of the leak so I didn't have to destroy the whole wall. Great investment and far cheaper than a plumber wanted to charge to do the same thing.

Great image, hard to use in pipes with curves
Great picture but almost impossible to follow curves in the pipes. Cable length was good but hard to wrap and control. Item was too stiff for proper usage.

Best Depstech ever! Not just for handyman uses- all sorts of home uses as well.
I own two other Depstech wireless borescopes... both with 16 ft.cables.I love those as well- but this version is perfect. To start with, it comes complete with everything needed: view screen, cable, SD card and a container for holding it. No need to find and connect your phone or tablet to the bluetooth. The length of the cable is wonderful as well. It is nice to have a longer cable sometimes, but the longer length can be annoying when all one needs is something shorter. It requires no technical expertise to use at all.... just pull it out and look where you want to.In addition to doing the standard handyman things with it, like looking into walls to fish cables ( see first picture), it ends up being a wonderful all-around tool.My 2nd picture is a very interesting use: did my grandkids shove my stylus under the stove where I can't see it easily? No longer any reason to move the stove to find out - pull out the borescope and look for it.Yup, there it is... and use the scope to retrieve the object without having to move anything.I thought a filling on a tooth had come out. So I used the scope to take a picture to send to the dentist in the 3rd picture.I could also use it as I've used my other ones to replace spark plugs and do other auto repairs on an engine where it is impossible to directly view the area in question. But that's not all: maybe you're not sure what length you need, or whether or not you need one or two side cameras. The DS520 series cables and the host are detachable, which means that the DS520 host and cables of different meters (16.5f or 50ft or 4.92ft)/different models (three lens or dual lens) can be replaced by purchasing only the cable.DS520 replacement cable (dual lens and 4.92ft ) : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMXFWFVPDS520 replacement cable (dual lens and 16.5ft ) : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLVQZ5LJDS520 replacement cable (triple lens and 16.5ft ) : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMXGMM1FI believe there are plans to produce a long 50 foot cable that would allow inspection of long lengths of piping. YES, the scope is waterproof, as well.Once you have seen one in use, you'll wonder how you've done without one for all this time. A great gift for any handyman OR his significant other.
