Great trial boot or short term fix!!!
I have a 27kg crossbreed with approx Labrador/Golden Retriever size feet. He is from Romania and due to the abuse he suffered there, he has 3 permanently dislocated toes on his back leg which cause his foot to be splayed and he walks a bit on the side of his footpad. He suffers no pain from it - he allows me to play with the foot and walks on it perfectly fine when the ground is soft. However, when he is moving faster than a walk on hard ground, the impact of his foot hitting the ground is uncomfortable for him and he recently stopped using the foot altogether on hard ground, thereby causing a bit of muscle wastage. In order to find a solution that was not medication related (he has been on Metacam for a while and I am desperate to get him off it), I thought about buying a boot for him. As I did not want to spend too much money what with it being a trial and error exercise, I opted for the cheapest one I could find and came across these.I bought the Large size for him and it fits perfectly! The stretchy fabric is good and they are easy to put on with straps that tighten effectively and do not loosen while walking (and we walk a lot!). He "scrats" a lot after he does his business and even this does not loosen the straps or cause the boot to slip. And best of all, HE IS USING HIS LEG AGAIN! He is now a much happier dog :)Given the cost of the boots and the frequency I will be using them, I do not expect them to last forever. However, if you want something for infrequent use, short term fix or for just trying out a boot for sizing/practicality reasons then these are the ones to buy! Delivery was fast too. As he only uses one at a time, I will wait till both have worn out before I buy a more substantial pair now I know they work and what size he is.I haven't used them in the rain yet but we went on some damp ground and they kept his foot dry. I would suspect the neoprene fabric will not keep out much water if being used for open wound protection but they are great as support/general foot protection.(For anyone who is having issues with slipping, etc...I make the straps really tight and make sure his foot is as far into the boot as it will go).

Good temporary protection for sore paw
The media could not be loaded. Good protective boot used after my dog badly grazed one of the pads on his paw. Easy to put on and the double Velcro straps enabled it to be secured well around his paw/ankle area where it pretty much stayed in place. His sore paw was kept dry and cushioned against any further abrasion while it healed. I bought size Large for my Labrador /Retriever but would possibly go a size larger as the vinyl backing underneath didn’t quite cover the surface area needed when his paw was flat on the ground. Overall a very economical, effective and pet friendly healing aid. Was worn for 4/5 days (took off at night) and can definitely be used again.

OK for short walks - `sock is a bit too short for a Lab though - needs to be a bit longer for them not to work loose
Firstly, I originally ordered size XL for Connie, my Labrapotamus. She has very big feet for a Lab so I ordered the XL size but found them actually a little too wide for her trotters, Having said that, they were easy to put on - and stayed on even when she was boisterous - as well as when she swam in rivers and frollicked in muddy wallows, which she was particularly fond of. The reason for them staying on her I believe, was mainly because of the good length of the sock - and with its fastening laying above her "knee". - Connie was also happy to wear them, - she has sore pads - but could walk and run without difficulty wearing the size XL boots. They lasted very well too. - So why just three stars for the size L then, you may ask? (I downsized to to see if they would be more "snug" fitting for her). - Well, it's simply because the Size L sock is much shorter than the XL size - and so, the top fastener lies right across her "knee" - and as soon as Connie breaks into what I laughingly call a "run" (Visualise a cross between a Labrador, Wart-Hog and a Hippopotamus "waddling" at high speed) - the size L boots quickly work loose and slide off. So, iMHO, to gain a higher rating, the sock needs to be the same length as the XL sized boot - and then they would be perfect! In the meantime, I'll stick to buying her the XL size. It just means she looks as if she is wearing a pair of boxing gloves,,,,,,Most unladylike!!

Trixie walker boots, XL
The media could not be loaded. The tape measure in my photos is cm, these size XL boots fit my Germen shepherd well, she is 27 inches high to top of shoulders, I'm glad I didn't get larger as these wrap round perfectly and stay put, they are very flexible and soft, the tapes wrap around above the paw and don't slip down, after a bad cut on one of her pads, the bandage is off and after a week this was her first time out, we were out for over an hour and the boot, which was easy to get on because of the handy split at the back, stayed put, the tapes wrap around and stuck well, walking on the wet dewy grass these boots are not waterproof and got quite damp but her paw was quite dry when removing the boot, I suspect her paw would have been wet if walked through puddles etc, I like that the boots are lightweight so didn't bother our dog to wear them, although she has been out twice now and these boots stay put and keep her paw clean, which is the object of using them, until her paw is 100% healed, we haven't tried on hard ground, only grass, they are great boots and I wouldn't hesitate to buy more as a short term use as I wouldn't think they would wear well with daily use on rough hard ground for a long time. I found these boots easy to wash by hand, after the last rinse I wrapped in kitchen towel and squeezed hard then they took no time at all to dry, I'm going to spray with a waterproofing spray to help. These boots do what they are supposed to and are comfy for my dog to wear, she doesn't try to get them off and they don't seem to bother her, which is a plus as she hates her paws being handled.
