Dual WAN Setup in Rural Area: Starlink + T-Mobile with ER707-M2
I live in a rural area and recently added Starlink alongside T-Mobile Home Internet. To make the most of both connections, I picked up a Dual WAN router—the ER707-M2—to combine the two ISPs and load balance traffic while I test and decide which one to stick with. The price was excellent, and so far, the router has been performing flawlessly. Setup can be as simple as plug-and-play, but if you dive into advanced features like Policy Routing and group configurations, it might be a bit complex for some users. That said, if you’re a Hulu user, brace yourself—streaming can be finicky without proper routing. Thankfully, Policy Routing can help smooth out those issues and save you a lot of frustration. Updating firmware was easy and I appreciate the auto backup option of settings to an external USB drive. Only frustration is being an Amazon Prime member and here of late, deliveries that say 2 days turns in to a week. This is happening more and more on my end.

Working non-stop for 18 months.
Bought mine on June 2024. Year and a half later no problems at all. The room is air conditioned and the router is supplied by an UPS. Working non stop. Excellent piece of equipment.

Great product and excellent tech support
I purchased this product, hardware version 1.6, more than 2 years ago, and it has been performing perfectly since then without any issues. The product has a good look of design as usual in a rectangular shape that is constructed proportionally so-called Golden Ratio - visually appealing. It supplies a web platform for administrators to manage networks via a very clean visual design of the user interface as well - actionable items or tasks are categorized and arranged very clearly for the administrators quickly locating the tasks to perform such as monitoring the runtime issues or solve specific problems in configurations. I use this product constructing my home network that is pre-wired in Cat. 6 Ethernet in every room, and VLAN segmenting Wi-Fi network from the wired network, my home office, children, and guest accesses. Technically, my review only pertains to the features of WAN/LAN, not VPN yet. This product provides what I need and performs well as expected without any issues. I haven't had chances to try out the other features such as VPN as mentioned before, including Omada SDN Integrated Load Balancer but the load balancing in software configuration will be my next plan to implement. I am definitely confident in its functionality. Also, the manufacture's tech support is very responsive in communications and the solution provided to solve the issue of the firmware update is efficient and quick. Overall, great product and the customer services, two-thumbs up!

Good functionallity, small package, a bargain
I've been running this router for about 1 month. It was relatively easy to install and get going and has worked without issue since. A few things to make note of: This device has both a 'stand-alone' mode (typical web UI) and a controller mode for management. You cannot easily switch from standalone mode to controller (or back); doing so resets the entire device. The software controller runs on a Java platform so it requires a JRE. I found lots of issues with the software controller (it wouldn't display correctly on my laptop) and I didn't care for the experience. However, if you're new to Omada hardware decide early on whether you're going to run in standalone or controller mode and stick to whichever. Ideally the controller mode gives you a 'single pane of glass' view of your network infrastructure to let you configure your router, switches, access points etc... from a single interface. The vlan port tagging UI on this router is extremely un-intuitive in stand-alone mode. Wireguard VPN server was extremely easy to configure and is very fast. Dynamic DNS updater was also extremely easy to configure. I think for the price this is very capable gear for a small office or home enthusiast use. An average home user would be better of with an 'easy-button' router.

Excellent price to performance for gig internet service
I'm a "prosumer," so this router might not be for the average person who wants an "easy" plug-and-play setup. But it's not complicated to set up if you know how to get to the web interface and know the difference between a WAN and LAN port. I purchased this router for its multi-gigabit capability, and it does not disappoint. Recently Comcast/Xfinity upgraded us to 1,200Mbps service, but the router and modem we had would only allow us to hit around 700Mbps. We first upgraded our modem and were hitting the same speeds, but bypassing our router with a 2.5 gig wired connection directly to our modem would allow us to hit 1,400Mbps, so I knew our 7-year-old router was holding us back. I did a bunch of research, and there were a few multi-gigfor upwards of $ router options 600 with nice app features, etc., but I could not justify the cost. I did find some people on Reddit in the same predicament, and this router was recommended, and was the cheapest option at $200 at the time of purchase. With this router, I can hit line speed speeds of 1,400Mbps as if I were directly connected to the modem. But there are some essential things to consider if you want to reach these speeds in your network. 1. You need a router that your ISP approves for > 1 gig service 2. You must have >= 2.5 gig hardware between the router and your computer. That includes your laptop/desktop having a >= 2.5 gig network adapter/card and any switches between being >= 2.5 gig. 3. This only has two 2.5 gig ports, so you will need an additional 2.5 gig switch to expand > 1 gig service to your LAN. One port will connect to your modem, and the other port to your 2.5 gig switch to expand your 2.5 gig connections. There's also additional VPN hardware onboard to do site-to-site VPN connections at pretty impressive bandwidth for the price. I have not utilized this yet, but it is an excellent addition for someone who needs to be connected to a corporate network. But this is more advanced and probably unnecessary by the average consumer. Overall, I am super happy with the purchase and am now looking at their Wi-Fi mesh gear to tie it all together with the "Omada" management, which is similar to Ubiquiti's management software that I am probably migrating away from after this purchase.

Easy setup!
Set router up to work with two internet sources, load balancing and fail-over. It is functioning flawlessly. The Omada controller software made it easy.

AVOID Hardware V1.0 (ALL TP-LINK)
I have been shipped several ER605 VPN Routers, hardware V1.0 that had to be sent back because they were faulty. Replaced them with ER7206's hardware V1.6 and had NO problems. Just received another ER7206 today that is already being sent back, HARDWARE VERSION 1.0. It WILL NOT accept a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx IP as the LAN address. It loses connection (will not display proper status) but still connects to the internet while losing all other functionality, and does absolutely NOTHING if you try to save any further changes. This is also the case after updating the firmware to the latest from TP-Link. So, just as with the ER605, the ER7206 hardware V1.0 is absolute garbage. Luckily there's no hassle (other than wasted set up time, travel time, gas costs) in returning the item for a refund and ordering a replacement. HOPEFULLY THE REPLACEMENT is NOT another V1.0 or its going STRAIGHT BACK without even removing it from the box. I'm DONE with V1.0 ANYTHING from TPLink! They should ALL BE REMOVED FROM CIRCULATION! Addition/Update: Although the hardware version in the web interface displayed as v1.0, both the sticker on the box and the S/N sticker on the device BOTH said hardware v1.6. The replacement I received ALSO showed v1.6 on the box and S/N sticker, and again, also showed as v1.0 on the web interface. Luckily the replacement did not exhibit the same odd behavior with the 10.xxx.xxx.xxx LAN IP settings and have not had any issues so far. ANOTHER update: The replacement lasted about a WEEK before it too exhibited the same issues. BLANK on external connection status, would NOT load the DHCP client list page AT ALL, would NOT accept or save any changes to ANYTHING, refused VPN connections, PERIOD. Obviously this is NOT the fault of the seller, see the pics above, the BOX and SN sticker both show Hardware V1.6, however the SOFTWARE SHOWS HARDWARE v1.0. NOTHING the seller could do as far as I'm concerned, ENTIRELY a TP-Link thing. This is now the 4th return of TP-Link devices out of 5 purchased. NOT A GOOD RECORD!!! ALLLLLL hardware V1.0 on the software side.
