all of the other made in Japan versions have a "made in Japan" written on the front face. Is this watch definitely made in Japan?

The J model is marketed for the Asian market. Their import laws are different than the import laws of the US. Some people claim that the J models are also made in Malaysia but stamped Made in Japan because they do not have to prove where they are made. I have both the J model and the K model and the movement on the J model seems a lot better. My K model has the weekdays in English and Spanish. My J model has the days in English and Japanese. I bought my K model here in the US and ordered my J model from a Japanese watch store here on Amazon. It shipped from Japan. It came with a couple of pieces of Japanese rock candy. How nice was that. There are a lot of watch collector forums to help you with your research. I would stick to the J models, you will not be disappointed.

I just ordered the snzg15j1 and the product specifications & product description say snzg15jc, what am i getting and where is it made?

According to this site, the “C” indicates a reimportation model, which was made for other countries outside of Japan. It is still made and assembled in Japan. Does it have a leather strap opition?

I believe there are only nylon or steel options from the manufacturer. However, there are many 3rd party leather options and the strap is easy to change.

Is this timepiece worth the extra money over the K model? I've done a lot of research and no one can say one way or the other.

If by K you mean like the snk809, those are a little smaller, 50M water resist instead of 100, and not made in Japan. It might have Seiko's older movement 7s26 where the Japanese ones have 7s36. Most reviewers say no practical difference between the movements. With regard to 50M water resistance, before I got this watch I wore a Timex 50M daily for 12 years with no hesitation to wear it in fresh or salt water (I don't scuba dive) and no problems.

Lovely introduction to mechanical timepieces

I'm a vintage Omega collector but bought this for my son to start appreciating the subtle but very important distinction between quartz (Eurghh) and mechanical watches.I liked the simple design, without the unnecessary complication of chronograph.It says simple and understated appreciation of mechanical timepieces.The Japanese movements are amazingly good, right up there with many ETA movements, would I prefer one to an ETA? No, in my opinion the swiss movements are better, for one, an un-worn watch with a swiss movement will likely go on for four days to just short of a week, whereas this (so other reviewers have stated just a day or two).I haven't tested that as I gave it as a gift, but my son has mentioned it has drawn some admiring glances.A winner in my opinion.UPDATE 22/2/19 Keeping first class time so far, any fear on that side has been dispelled, very happy indeed

Watch is great. Build quality and looks are great.Service is also great. I did order on thursday around midday and express delivery was included in price. By 4pm got text message that parcel is on the way. Changed option to do collection from DHL point and got watch after work on friday.Just brilliant!Oh and even if your wrist has around 7 inches and you think that it will be too big, no it will not. It just right

Fantastic Watch

Fantastic watch, I love it. Arrived a week early, Just started collecting watches, first clockwork watch. The strap had some bad reviews, uncomfortable, cheap, but I find it ok, so far, fits my 7 1/2 inch wrist on the 4th hole. Arrived in Seiko box/pillow, with instruction leaflet, and its the Japanese version that I ordered.Good seller too.
