Bare Republic Mineral Sunscreen & Sunblock Face Lotion with Zinc Oxide, Broad Spectrum SPF 30, 1.7 Fl Oz

To give context for my review, I am a 40yo F with EXTREMELY sensitive, combination skin and rosacea. I have been stuck with the conundrum that I need to wear sunscreen to prevent worsening my rosacea (not to mention the standard anti-aging and cancer prevention benefits), but most sunscreens had ingredients that actually worsened my rosacea. I tried soooo many sunscreens that didn't work for me, including ones that are frequently recommended for sensitive skin. Unlike all those other sunscreens, this one does NOT irritate my skin. It has a light, whippy texture that is just right for my combination skin, easy to spread on my face, and it doesn't turn my T-zone into an oil slick, and/or turn my cheeks into red flake fests. When you first apply, it does have a slightly greasy feel and white cast, but don't freak out because that fades quickly and dries down to a soft, matte finish with no white cast (disclaimer: I have a fair skintone). I use it as my daily sunscreen, and I do have to wear a good moisturizer underneath it to keep my cheeks from getting too dry as the day goes on, but people with more oily skin might not need that step. Unlike other sunscreens that turn into a chalky paste that is difficult to wash off at the end of the day, this one washes off easily, which is another benefit for irritable skin that doesn't endure a lot of scrubbing. I also really put this stuff to the test this summer with two back-to-back vacations at the beach, where I used this sunscreen on my face and reapplied every 2 hours while in the sun, and I did not get a single sunburn, rosacea flare, or breakout (I did also wear a hat as much as possible). I will be using this sunscreen forever as long as Bare Republic keeps making it (please don't ever discontinue it!).

I like this sunscreen under makeup. It feels like a dimethicone primer and leaves no white cast on my medium olive skin once applied and settled. I use it over moisturizer since I have dry skin and I do not feel like it makes my skin dry or flaky. I do feel like my makeup sits on my skin better with this sunscreen. It has not irritated my sensitive rosacea prone skin or caused breakouts. I previously used the Bare Republic gel sunscreen formula, and I did find that formula more drying and that my makeup would not last as nicely. I will use the gel on days when I will not be wearing makeup but will be outside. The matte formula is a perfect everyday sunscreen. I really like this brand and will continue to purchase. Cruelty free, fragrance free, and effective mineral sunscreen. My new HG. For comparison I find the cerave mineral sunscreen to be too oily on my face as the day goes on.

I have combination skin and most sunscreens just add more shine to my oily t-zone. This Bare Republic Matte sunscreen is the best I've tried so far that glides on matte and dries down to a velvety finish. I have medium skin tone and it initially goes on slightly white but disappears once rubbed in. Using this under makeup seems to work well with foundation and setting powder. Very pleased with this sunscreen, love that it's reef friendly and the price point is reasonable.

Love this affordable mineral sunscreen for day-to-day use, however I wish they would use MIT's famous LiquiGlide coating on their bottles to allow product to slide down and minimize waste. I've cut open the bottle thinking it's almost done and I can still get a week's worth of product out of it.

I love how this sun screen protection goes on like a cream. It’s not sticky at all. I use to have really dark spots on my skin and has helped me. I usually include protection to my daily routine skin cream.
