Easy to install with positive results in Cyprus in around a month
The media could not be loaded. We live in Cyprus and our mains water is heavily processed and during the summer after a dry winter it can often be from desalination plants which has even more processing and is far from salty soft! After living in our house for 15 years deposits must have built up in our water fixtures which has an effect on the amount of water that flows through taps and showers so I thought we would try an Eddy. All the water pipes in our house are PVC but the fixtures and fittings are all regular limescale attracting stainless steel and copperOur water supply enters our property in a 20mm polyethylene (PE) pipe which is perfectly suitable for installing the Eddy on. The mains water pipe happens to run right beside my shed which meant it was an ideal place for a quick and easy installation. The coils that wrap around the pipe are OK to be outdoors (as confirmed with the manufacturer) but obviously the Eddy itself needs to be protected from rain.I coiled the two supplied lengths of wire around the pipe leaving round 20-30cm spare and drilled two holes in my shed wall to feed the wire inside. The Eddy was fixed to the inside of the shed using the adhesive pads already applied to the back of the unit, which after a month is still holding firm in temperatures up to 40C and looks like its going to remain well stuck on.All in all a very easy installation which took around 20 minutes. Now for the results. Our mains water feeds a 2 tonne water tank on our roof which then feeds all the outlets in the house with the exception of one mains tap in the kitchen. Because of this the descaled water generated by the Eddy would not have been replaced in the tank immediately. It would have slowly diluted the original water in the tank over time but I believe we've now probably near 100% 'Eddy-ied' water in the tank. The Eddy has been installed and running 24hrs a day for just over a month. It's too early to say if it has improved water flow by reducing limescale deposits but there is a definite softening of the crusty bits that form on the tap outlets which are beginning to reduce during regular cleaning. The effect on the water when washing and showering which others have commented on is also very apparent. Soaps and shampoo lather up much more giving an overall softer feel (even though this is not technically a water softening device).Granted, the changes we've noticed are not dramatic but that's not what we expected. Hopefully over time this little box is going to keep softening limescale deposits and keep the insides of our pipework and fixtures trouble free.

Incredible
I have had this installed for almost 6 months. It took approximately 3 months for the full effect to be realised due to the large storage tank in the loft (only a small percentage water change each day). I live in a very hard water area near to chalk downs. Prior to installing my Eddy I was having to descale my kettle and shower head every month plus removing calcite from around taps, toilet bowls, etc regularly. For the past 3-4 months I have not had to descale anything, any chalk build up in the kettle wipes off with a cloth/finger (i.e. it does not stick to the metal or element). All I have to do is rinse out the kettle every week or so to remove the loose chalk sediment from the base of the kettle. There is no calcite build up evident around the shower head, taps, toilet bowl or any other plumbing installation. Plus, like other previous feedback comments, the water seems softer to the touch - no, I didn't believe the comments at first either! But I can assure you it does. - and soap seems to lather more. Overall I am over the moon with the performance results of what is a very simple installation for such effective hard water softening. With the 12 months guarantee promise of a full refund from Eddy it is a no brainer. If you are fed up with the effects of hard water give one of these a try I doubt very much you will be disappointed.

Seems to work, sticky pads not so good
A friend had a similar device to this, so I decided to try it. After a couple of months it does seem to have made a difference. Water feels softer, soap lathers up better, and scale deposits in hot drinks and on surfaces are clearing up.We have extremely hard water, and it ruins everything. Installation was not too difficult, even in a cramped space. It just takes a while. The sticky pads don't work very well - adhesion to the plastic case failed after several weeks in an airing cupboard (which is where our water main comes in). I will install screws instead. Better quality 3M adhesive may help. The question is, do the cheaper ones work just as well? These devices are massively over-priced for what they are. The electronics inside cost a few pounds at most. Alternatives are available for a fraction of the price, but I have not compared them. I decided to try this on the basis of the year long money back guarantee, which unless it breaks I won't be claiming on.

It does work!
Don’t ask me how it works, not an engineer or scientist! However we had a salt block system in a very hard water area, so was very sceptical at first. There is a residual build up on shower screens, taps, etc. but it’s easy to clean off. So it won’t keep things spotless but does stop limescale build up on taps and surfaces .

Look nowhere else. This is value for the costy
I had a SW - it worked, then failed. Supplied me with a replacement - failed. Would not consider another replacement and refunded me the purchase price. ( Not the P and P ).I went to EDDY'S What a difference!!!!! They were so helpful, No query was a problem and l had to ring them several times as my water system is different than normal. I was very impressed with their attitude. At no time at all did l feel l was a pest and most of the calls were made AFTER l had purchased the Descaler. The instructions are quite clear but l did have a query or two -- no problems. The coil winding is a bit fiddly but not beyond the wit of man. They were quite happy for me to send photos for their perusal and subseqent advice. We have a blemish in our bathroom basin. It is like a small shallow pond and as the water dries out it will leave scale around its perimiter. The flowing of the descaled water removes the scale. The EDDY did it in four days.It is always worth remembering that descaled water ( left in the kettle after use) will tend to deposit scale. We filter our water -- not for taste -- but for the bits that get through the Water Board's filters. This item is undoubtedly fantastic value for the money.
