having just processed a few deer, I was looking for another knife to add to the collection. this will go nicely next to my paring knife and filet knife... The 6" blade length will handle longer cuts, and the narrow tip & point will allow for more delicate cuts. I'm expecting this knife to be used in the more large-cut butchering process, rather than refined cleanup, but your milage may vary. The grip is a rubberized finish that seems like it will hold up and keep good grip even when wet. There is no indication of the kind of steel used, so it's unclear if this will hold an edge worth anything (thus my 4 star rating), but given the price, you can just re-sharpen repeatedly until it's time to buy a new one.

We do a lot of our own meat cutting and boning, so having a sharp knife is very important. It's a very unassuming knife that comes in a box which houses thick foam to store. No fancy bag or case, which is fine since the sharpness of the blade and comfort of the handle is important to us. The handle is light and curved slightly, very ergonomic in any size hand. The blade is curved and long enough to get into what is being carved/cut. It had stayed sharp for many uses before needing to be sharpened. We use this more than our professional grade carving knives which speaks a lot to how well this knife works. A great buy and find
