Using this for Stainless Steel Saute Pans
Using this for getting a rough careless idea when the temperature of stainless steel saute pans is ready for sauteing.Granted, I could just splash water onto the saute pan for guessing the proper saute temperature, waiting for the water droplets to dance rather than just sizzle. Without a sensor, I usually either waste a good gallon of water, performing redundant tests, or I forget about the saute pan on the stove top.Usually about halfway towards the green zone is about the correct saute temperature. Likely not the intended application for this analog temperature sensor, however likely the best on the market for my intended purpose. A laser thermometer doesn't work well on stainless steel saute pans. What would be neat, a small battery operated sensor, which would trigger an alarm when the saute pan hit ideal sauteing temperature!

Skillet Thermometer
Works like it should. Great for new stainless steel cookware.

Accurate but slow
Purchased to show temperature on new Blackstone grill. It appears accurate but response time to temperature changes is very slow. Not what you want if you are looking for instantaneous readings.

Pretty ok.
It works as described. Mine got humidity behind glass... I suspect the next time I use it, it will drive out the moisture.

Getting the right temperature on the griddle.
My stove has a cast iron griddle. easy to over heat. Why not use one of those laser thermometers? They show the temperature but this thermometer shows how fast the temperature is rising allowing me to adjust the gas (yes, I still cook with natural gas) to keep the griddle temperature at the right level for my cooking.

Tested this and is a FAIL
So as soon as I found out these existed I had to have one. I already have an infrared thermal gun, which works well, but I thought how neat to just have a thermometer laying directly on the grill. Well First let me say that these will read accurately enough for grill temps. So what is the disqualifier? Well it is the fact that each time I have used it, I have actually finished cooking my stack of pancakes, or steaks, or burgers, before the dial reached the grill temperature. It is just insanely slow to acquire the temperature. After we finished using this to cook our meal tonight we decided to spend an hour, testing it in a different way. We thought maybe if we left in on long enough to finally get a correct reading, maybe we could use it to read hot and cold zones. But sadly it is just too darn slow even to cool down. So this great idea, in my opinion turned out to be a total miss. Speaking of miss, I missed the return window, so I hope we can find some other application that its sluggish responce time will not be a problem, Likely will just round file it. I hope this helps someone else out there. A thermal gun still seems to be the best way to read your grill.

OK for the money
I bought this to throw in the middle of a big smoker and my grill when doing slower cooks. I'd say compared to my electronic thermometers it's accurate enough if your shooting for a temp range. The problem is if you are using smoke or a water pan the thermometer becomes completely unreadable. I used a wire clip to mark the 250 degree spot and then I can atleast eyeball and estimate the temp. I'll probably get a few more cooks out of this before I replace it.

Does it's job
Accurate temperature readings and works well with an easy to read display. Has lasted for many cooks. The best part is that you learn how the grill works and where the temp is on the dial. I no longer need this thermometer.
