Home made Angustora - very satisfying.
There's nothing more satifying than an old fashioned with home-made Angustora. The recipe in here was easy to follow (though some ingredients are tricky to find) and the result tastes great.

This is to enhance the book on cocktails we bought our grandson for him to impress his fellow students at university.

Great book, could have added a touch more...
No doubt, this book is great, there are no others like it as far as I am aware. Its informative and well written and takes you through the history of bitters to actual production in good detail, and the book its self is lovely. There are many bitters recipes and also cocktails recipes to try them in (although it would have been nice to see more cocktails using the actual bitters from the book) and also a guide on tools needed for not only producing bitters but for bar tending. BTP has even added a section on recommend uses for bitters in the kitchen, which is a nice, versatile touch. What would have been nice and perhaps this will come in a revision, would be alternative methods to making bitters. All the recipes in this book are made in a traditional fashion. They take a minimum of 3 weeks. A section on sous vide bitters would be an excellent addition as these can be made in under 1 hour with superb results. All in all though this book is great, I would recommend this to any new or experienced bartender or chef, or just to the enthusiast.

Es erscheinen tausende von Cocktailbüchern und es ist auch viel Quatsch auf dem Markt aber Brad Thomas Barsons hat ein Buch über Cocktailbitters und Cocktails herausgebracht, welches in keiner gut sortierten Cocktailbibliothek fehlen sollte. Mit dieser Entschlüsselung von Bitters gelangt man auf eine neue Ebene im mixologischen Universum. Das Buch basiert auf dem persönlichen Erfahrungsschatz des Authors und ist dennoch äusserst sachlich und verständlich geschrieben. Zusammengefasst: Sehr empfehlenswert!

l libro di Parson è il perfetto mix tra ricerca storica e pratica ed è scritto in un linguaggio molto fluido che non annoia mai e non diventa mai pesante. Importante anche il libro stesso con un'elegante copertina e delle bellissime illustrazioni in tutto il libro. Il libro inizia raccontando la storia dei bitters dalla loro nascita alla quasi scomparsa fino al boom dell'ultimo decennio. Descrive tantissime etichette di bitter sul mercato. Poi c'è una parte dedicata alle ricette homemade dai bitters alle tinture. E si arriva alle ricette prima dei grandi classici ripresi con twis on classic a base di bitters e degli aneddoti e poi quelle dei nuovi cocktail. Un libro che vale ogni euro speso!
