Garmin Drive 50 LMT EU Travel Edition

Good product

So pleased with my purchase, together with the bean bag to hold it in place easily on the dashboard. I have not had to update or install any different maps yet, but this is so clear to read, follow and use in the UK. Boots up into action really quickly. So much better than my previous Tom Tom. Thoroughly recommend.

Used for 21 days in America and worked a charm. At times, could not find the street or address we were looking for, even though updated regularly and before we left. Seems like it has some live traffic updates, because it kept us up to date about the occasional busy roads. It's a great satnav. Have always loved Garmin. Does from time to time get the left or right exit wrong on the image. This can be difficult on the freeway in America, as you have like 5 lanes at times. This needs to be fixed.

the product works as described. Garmin's personnel recommended this product for my needs. It is great.

Comprehensive coverage, but beware comes in Arabic. Garmin UK helped me sort that out. Excellent device

Just to let you know it does not have all the maps loaded.I wanted to get it for the south Africa coverage and had to go to the Garmin Website and purchase a map for 84 GBP.it has some of the maps, but not all those that are listed.

This GPS is a special edition with lifetime maps of the whole world (well, at least the parts of the world that Garmin publish navigation maps for). However the device doesn't come with all the maps and they are never all on the device at the same time. The device comes with internal Europe map and internal Middle East/Africa map. You need to connect the device to Garmin Express on your PC and swap the Middle East/Africa map for another one (eg North America) to access the other regions. You will always have the Europe map and one other of your choice. But only ONE other map (plus Europe) at any one time (eg you cannot have south america + north america +europe).You can tell in the software that Garmin haven't really designed this well and the Garmin Express isn't designed well for this kind of region switching (since normally the Garmin GPS units just have built in regions and you can't swap the regions like with the travel edition).There is a micro SD card slot but no instructions from Garmin on how to use it. With this it is possible to have many regions (eg europe + north america + south america) but it's a bit awkward to use and needs some research on the internet (and even then i'm not sure i've done it correctly and I have a masters degree in software engineering).Eventually I worked out how to use the SD slot, primarily because the first time I updated the unit with garmin express it wouldn't start up and became a "brick" (to use a technical term). Garmin had to replace it (did not help that they sent me a non-travel europe only edition at first). Even Garmin europe themselves didn't seem to know about the travel edition being different to the europe edition.Except for the map update trouble the device itself is good and compact and always gives good instructions.

Item stopped working after 4 days of use in Iceland.

...wie immer bei Garmin. Alles so, wie beschrieben. Das Display ist schön hell und mit gutem Kontrast. Die Stimme klar und deutlich. Anfragen an mich haben nach Nordafrikanischen Staaten gefragt. Sorry Leute- ZENTRALEUROPA kann die Software.... :) Inkl. Ukraine.Tolles NAVI und sehr zu empfehlen.

Ich hätte mir bei Garmin etwas anderes erhofft. Nachdem ich das Gerät endlich so hin bekommen habe, dass ich es entziffern konnte ( Werkseinstellung war auf arabisch), ging es direkt zum Test. Um zur Autobahn zu gelangen muss ich durch ein kleines Waldstück. Plötzlich GPS Signal verloren. Ich spreche hier nicht vom tiefsten Djungel, sondern einer bewaldeten Bundesstraße. Selbst auf der Autobahn könnte das Gerät mich nicht irren und zeigte mich neben der Fahrbahn an. Daher sofort zurück.

So this started having problems turning on and off after a year of use. Mine doesn't even turn on at all now.Mine also often had issues finding a signal when it should have been able to.Suction cup never worked well. Screen had a lot of issues with glare.The software itself could be improved for Germany.
