Been a really nice addition to the ring doorbell. It fits my doorbell perfectly. Works well keeping battery levels up

Without this solar charger, a battery would last on average for about 25 days, with the power dropping from 100% to 30%. However, with this solar charger connected, it has been in excess of 30 days so far where the battery has not dropped below 80% which is very good! The charger is West facing, so it gets a good amount of general daylight and sun and on a nice day. Will see how this fairs during the Winter months. I expect the charging to lessen. Apart from that, it's great piece of kit to have and I would recommend getting one, especially if your video doorbell is in place where there's a good spell of sunlight. **UPDATE** - JUL 2025 - Solar Charger has been great. With the hot weather of recent, have not had to change the battery for the last 100 days!

During the long summer days the charger does the job …charging the battery as it should but during the autumn/winter days doesn’t work at all ! You will need spare battery as a replacement or original one to keep charging from mains power as solar charger does nothing literały nothing .since October to December I’ve had to charger the battery three times as on minimum usage settings .So please keep in mind that this works only during the summer days. Obviously the solar charger is exposed to the sun all the time and still does not charge during shorter days. I’m using two batteries so no problem being disconnected all the time here but I’ve thought that paying £50 on the day of purchase this solar charger will resolve charging issues .

Easy to install, keep the battery topped up but does not charge as much as expected. However this maybe a location and duration of sun it gets. Good value for money.

I bought this product in April for use in South West UK. I’ve been away for 8 months & it’s brilliant. You can view the charge left on the Ring app - it hasn’t ran out yet. Impressed it works this well in England. Without charging the battery should last 60 days - it’s been 7 months, it’s winter & the battery is at 80%+

I bought a solar charger for my rear door Ring 4 (south facing), installed last week of February , and tested for 2 weeks. To be honest, it doesnt really benefit unless you get at least a few hours of direct sun a day. You will otherwise see the battery level going down daily even with very light use. The mini solar panel is not really up to the job in low light for UK. With hind site I would probably have bought the larger solar panel charger, as I could put this on a fence, and would probably work better in lower light. On 3 / 4 occasions over the last 2 weeks on test, it also does not show connected on the App, even below 80% battery level , and did not seem to charge at all. (note: It took a day or so, to show that its connected / charging when first connected, which is really not very clever, as you really need instant way to check its working - this is normal apparently ). A reboot through the app seems to be needed to resolve on the few occassions it seem to stop working. This may be a firmware issue so will give it a few months to see if it improves on connectivity . I assume if the solar pack battery drops to a low level, it forgets that its connected. As long as it charges in Spring / Summer, then I dont mind having to charge manually once a month in the darker months. So will give 3 star for now, and will update in a few months, if improves. *** Update *** - Ring support kindly contacted me via amazon and offered to send me a new larger solar panel to test. Great service ! Will update with results ,

Easy to fit and it definitely works, but only fits the one with removable battery so its fit and forget or a spare battery which is cheaper and keep taking it apart.

Ho acquistato questo caricatore solare per il mio videocitofono a batterie di seconda generazione e ne sono rimasto estremamente soddisfatto. L’installazione è stata semplicissima, con istruzioni chiare e tutti gli accessori inclusi. Una volta montato, ha iniziato subito a caricare il dispositivo, anche con luce solare indiretta. La qualità dei materiali è ottima: resistente alle intemperie e ben costruito, perfetto per un uso esterno. Da quando l'ho installato, non ho più dovuto ricaricare manualmente il videocitofono: resta sempre operativo, giorno e notte. È un accessorio indispensabile per chi cerca comodità e autonomia energetica. Consigliatissimo!

Funktioniert bislang sehr zuverlässig. Seitdem ist kein "manuelles" Aufladen des Akkus mehr erforderlich. Die Montage war sehr einfach und schnell.

I read the negative reviews before buying and decided that there were enough counterpoints to decide that the people having problems were having issues with what they have done, not with the charger. Like all solar panels, this is a trickle charger. It will generally only trickle power in slowly. However, having direct sun access is crucial because... well, its a solar panel. The sun tops the houses across the street from me early in the morning and climbs up above the edge of my roof above the door about four hours later. With that limited amount of direct sun, my Battery Doorbell Pro's battery will add about 20% charge per day thanks to this panel. Some Ring doorbells use 'optimized charging' where the cell is supposed to only charge up to a max of 80%. This 80% limit can be difficult to trigger for reasons beyond the scope of this review, but I found that on the BD Pro, if the cell is already fully charged prior to the solar charger's installation, the solar panel will do absolutely nothing until the battery gets down to about 70%. Only then will the solar charger start charging. When it does, it charges up to only 80% (stopping at 81%, actually). From there, with the sun I get, the solar charger will maintain between 70 and 80% battery charge indefinitely. I have the DBPro set to take snapshots every three minutes and do everything else that eats extra battery power. The direct sun access I get lets me do that. If your direct sun is less, you will have to adjust your settings to eat less power, or get used to the solar panel just extending battery life rather than making it never-ending. The exception to the above is the initial charge of the battery. When I installed my solar charger, I only had about a 38% charge on the battery. The solar charger added 20% per day until I was up to 100%... and then it seemingly did nothing for days until the battery slowly dipped down to 70%. Then it magically started up again into the cycle I describe above. Here again if you have limited sun access, you might not see this kind of clear result and it may look like the charger isn't doing anything.

Solar charger doesn't charge as well as advertised even though we live in the UAE. Summer seems to keep the battery topped up but in the winter where there is stilll reasonable sunlight it is useless.

Excellent quality product, shame it wasn’t compatible with my Ring doorbell!
