What dose the car smell like after you have washed the car with this shampoo?

Smells like a car, though if you put your nose in the bottle before adding it to water it has a faint smell of deturgant, kinda like washing up liquid (very faint smell). Hardly noticeable when added to water.

Streak free finish - is it? I'm in a hard water area, can I just wash the car with this & rinse off or must I use a chamois to dry it?

It is a good product only a cap full or two to give your car a good wash / shine.....I sponge car rinse off with cold water, then go around with Chamois to dry the spots, you can tell it leaves a wax as rain goes into globules on paint work. All in all for the money give it a go?

Is this a shampoo to remove the old wax on the car allowing you to prepare the car for polishing? Or in a nut shell will this strip the old wax off?
