Great vacuum at a good price
With all hardwood floors, and husband that is allergic to dust (mites) - I like to vacuum often. The convenience of cordless is such that I never, ever want to go back to wrangling with cords again. I have owned 2 Dyson stick vacs, and have always loved them. However, upon moving to a new place, I needed a new vacuum and with all the expense of moving, I decided to take a chance on this one. The first thing I noted was that it was a bit bigger and heftier than the stick vacs I'm used to. It was quite simple to unpackage and assemble, and I like that the battery is removable. This way if I ever want to replace it or have a spare - it's an easy swap. I can be charging one while using the other. Charging was pretty quick. Plugged in the battery, ran a couple errands and when I returned home, it was good to go. I vacuumed an area of ~900 sq feet on a single change, and we'll see how much longer it goes before it runs out. I really like that if you press the 'trigger' twice, the vacuum just stays on. With Dyson to have to keep your finger pressing on it, which isn't a great hardship, but can occasionally be awkward and I can see how it would bug someone with arthritis. This is nicer. The place we moved into had obviously had dogs (another allergy), and I cannot believe the places we have cleaned dog hair out of. Man that stuff gets everywhere! Going over every square inch of flooring - this vacuum was easy to maneuver, and I would say move a little more slowly and deliberately and it will just seem to suck up everything as it gets to it. If you rush you'll miss things. I thought the power, especially when it came to pet hair, was more than adequate. I don't have any rugs yet, so can't comment on how well it does on those. I appreciate the filter, and I really appreciate that there was only a little sneezing and no full blown allergy attack afterwards. We slept in comfort. I'll have to update this as I use it more, but to start off with - this vacuum compares admirably with more expensive ones, and I'm very happy with this purchase.

Cleans well, but a mess to empty
I had a hard time choosing between this and the React Whole Home Pet. I am wishing I spent the extra $100 for the React. I have had this now for about six weeks and have had a love/hate relationship with it. It performs really well. Cleans carpets nicely (doesn't deep clean as well as full sized Hoover Upright, but it gets the job done when you don't want to lug out the upright). And is excellent on hard floors. The tools work very well too, the bristles on the dusting brush are soft and great at dusting. Most vacuums in the $150 range give you a combination crevice tool/dusting brush and that's it and the bristles on that brush are stiff and not good at dusting. With this you get a real crevice tool, and real dusting brush (that you can dust with) and an upholstery tool. I like that the power brush can attach right onto the main unit for cleaning stairs. And the vacuum is not flimsy, its built pretty sturdily. Now onto the bad. I have the crevice tool and upholstery tool clip onto the wand, with the tool holder. The clip doesn't hold on very well and falls off if you look at it the wrong way. The battery doesn't last 20 minutes like it claims on the Hoover website I get between 8 and 10 minutes. And now onto my biggest gripe, hair and other debris gets stuck on the shroud, which usually isn't a problem because that happens with every other vacuum. But you can't take the shroud out to clean and the gap is too small to even stick your fingers up there. I have to poke around with a pencil to get the stuff unstuck which ends up making a mess. It is a good vacuum but has some major flaws in my opinion. If you can splurge and pay the extra $100 for the React, then do it. Update: March 7: After reviewing the video that Hoover Customer Service lleft in the comments. You can pull out the shroud and remove the debris more efficiently than shoving a pencil up there. I did try that originally however, I didn't pull on it hard enough to get it to come out. After reviewing the video, I tried again, and with some muscle, I was able to remove it! I will upgrade the rating to Four Stars from the Three I originally gave it.

disappointing quality & customer service
The Hoover brand is NOT what it used to be. The 1st time I used this it slipped from my hands and after hitting the ground the trap door to the dirt compartment cracked and the latch broke. The FIRST time. After a few weeks it stopped working. Something with the connection because it still turned on, but there was zero suction. I spoke to customer service through Hoover directly and their facebook page, and while they offered to have it looked at, the nearest authorized repair center was almost an hour (and 2 tolls) away where I would have to drop it off, not get it looked at the same day and would have to go back. I live next to Paramus NJ- the Mecca of retail. There are over 100 repair places between where I live and their authorized repair store. AND over 300 places where I can purchase a new one within 5 miles off the highway on the way to their only authorized repair store in the area. In the end I took it to a local repair shop. After paying for the repair it worked once before stopping altogether again. It took me almost a year to write my review, I kept hoping my experience would have a better ending. Not going to happen. I spent $199, $80 for an extra battery, and another $80 for repairs for a vacuums that worked 3 times. $360. A few weeks ago I spent less than that on a Dyson that is phenomenal.
