Many Faces Of Deep Purp

A history lesson in Deep Purple. The actual quality of the CD set is very good, so no concerns there. The contents provides a broad range of some of the other material they have been involved with. There are different versions of well known tracks performed by themselves as well as other artists performing them. As mentioned in another review the William Shatner tracks, ....well perhaps an acquired taste, but ' New Frontiers and to Boldly Go' seem to be the order of the day, well worth buying, and all the tracks in one place.

I will probably never play this set. Bought the marble vinyl as well, just to add to my collection of Purple memorabilia.

So,we have it.Not a cup of tea for everyone,but a slightly dizzy cap for old friends in need of that dream last dream before laying down thier heads to dream of what might have been.Tony

An interesting compilation of tracks from Purple Alumni, some better than others, some just curious and probably best only played once (William Shatner). I can understand why they put the song on that the group took it's name from but the version of River Deep, Mountain High seemed slightly out of place, it doesn't sound like the version that was released as a single. All in all interesting and worth the money.

excellent outing for fans of DP who have known them since the early days but may have lost track of the various line ups in the 40 plus years since. Almost a line up of who's who in rock as so many great rockers have appeared in the line up. Well worth the money as a show case of their best music those years.

Hungry for Deep Purple Songs by other singers and artists? Yea me too! Not all of theses songs are from Deep Purple, but many are covers of other rock songs. 3 CDs are included which is great. Personal preferences will be on which songs you like and which ones you don’t’. At least there are 3 CDs to pick from. I love Child in Time, River, Jungle Love. I never thought in my life that William Shatner and Ritchie Blackmore would be on a song together! But here they are on Spaece Oddity! I do like it, and as always Ritchie’s guitar playing is just so excellent. I think the song could have been slightly better with an additional voice for the man in the control tower, not just William Shattner again. I am soooo happy they did this David Bowie cover song! I greatly enjoyed this box set and I am glad they put it together for us.

Me ha sorprendido muy agradablemente este pack de 3 CDs de Deep Purple publicado por Music Bothers, y también los de Pink Floyd y Genesis. Presentación cuidada, comentarios interesantes sobre el contenido, se nota el cariño con el que están hechos.. Y por 5 euros cada pack !!!. Totalmente recomendable esta serie de Many Faces..

La série "The Many Faces of..." est en soi une bonne idée : mettre sur 3 CD un peu de l'esprit de ce que peut être un groupe influent au regard de ceux qui l'ont composé ou par ceux qu'ils ont inspiré. Rares sont les coffrets qui régalent en totalité. Souvent, on y trouve son compte sur un, voire deux rondelles. On se dit que vu le prix modique, ça reste acceptable mais tout de même, il reste un goût d'inachevé. Ce n'est pas le cas pour Alice Cooper et ce n'est pas non plus le cas ici. Bien sûr qu'on reste sur sa faim quand les classiques du groupe sont repris avec moins de bonheur que les originaux qui nous marquent encore tant. Mais on est aussi heureux de trouver ici les productions originales de Nic Simper et Rod Evans, tout comme les reprises de classiques de l'Histoire du Rock, Histoire à laquelle Deep Purple a apporté une belle contribution, même si curieusement les noms de Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord et Paice sont moins cités que Page, Bonham et Plant ou Ozzy Osbourne alors qu'ils n'ont pas à rougir de leur production, loin s'en faut.On pourra aussi être un peu déçu de ce que chaque CD peine à atteindre une heure, alors que le quart d'heure supplémentaire possible aurait permis de creuser davantage les sillons moins connus des époques MK I et post-MK IV. Ne boudons cependant pas l'exercice présenté ici car sa palette est suffisamment riche pour que nous passions d'agréables moments... et, au final, nous retourner vers les originaux.

Very good many face of deep purple ...rod evans,ian gillan , ritchie blakmore is the best on this great music...wow i love it ,thank you very much deep purple for many years for great music !
