I lit a candles, read a rune, and now my houseplants flinch when I speak
This book? It feels like it was whispered to me by a völva while I stood barefoot in a mossy forest, holding a pinecone and questioning my modern existence.Alda Dagny doesn’t just write about Norse magic—she channels it. I picked this up thinking I’d learn a few runes and maybe impress my skeptical dog. Instead, I found myself invoking ancestral energies, muttering incantations in Old Norse, and honestly wondering if I should buy a ceremonial cloak (spoiler: I did). The book breaks things down in a way that feels accessible, even if your current magical ability is limited to finding matching socks. You get real history, actual runic insight (not just “this one means strength”—no, we’re talking energetic resonance), and beautifully described rituals that make you want to climb a fjord and yell “Seidr!” into the wind.My favorite part? The blend of grounded spirituality and unapologetically mystical vibes. This isn’t TV witchcraft with sparkles and smoke bombs. This is tapping into the deep, ancient current of human connection to energy, earth, and the unseen. With intention. With power. And possibly with a carved bone talisman.Final thoughts:If you’ve ever felt like your soul might be a little bit Viking and a little bit weird woodland creature, this book is your spiritual roadmap.Highly recommend to anyone ready to stop just reading about magic—and start doing it. Just be warned: the runes will start talking to you. (Figuratively. Probably.)

Ancient Energy, Modern Magic: Unlock the Norse Path Within
If you’ve ever felt like your soul might be part Viking and part moss-covered mystic, The Old Norse Spell Book is your next read. This second book in Alda Dagny’s series doesn’t just teach you runes and rituals—it invites you to embody them. Blending folklore, energy work, and Seidr magic, it’s a grounded yet enchanted guide to tuning into the power already inside you. Forget cinematic sparkles—this is magic with roots, bones, and breath.Perfect for the magically curious or mindful practitioner ready to trade “namaste” for “Valhalla awaits.”

Norse Spell Book
The book is much smaller than anticipated, but gives the reader a glimpse of Nordic culture through their beliefs and use of magical symbols.

Unlock Ancient Magic
I've always been fascinated by mythology and the mystical, so picking up this book felt like stepping into a new yet ancient world. It's a guide that connects you with the Norse traditions of magic, which are far from the flashy spells we see in movies. Instead, it's about understanding and manipulating energy, a concept that feels both empowering and profound. The book breaks down how anyone can harness these abilities, emphasizing that it's not about being special or chosen but about tapping into what's already within and around us.

Like reading a poorly researched Wikipedia page
There are no in line citations and the author Is clearly referencing techniques developed by older creators to whom no credit is given. Not to mention the author is making up terms and drawing relationships between things that have no connections. The information given is simplistic and incomplete. It's not even that great as a starting point.
