Authentic anchovy flavour
Ideal if instead of opening a tin of anchovies just a small amount is needed

Very useful ingredient
I love this stuff! It's great for fish pie as it add a great taste, and is versatile enough to use in multiple dishes. Appearance is a small bottle but looks great. Great quality and excellent as a gift for those who love to cook.I'd recommend to anyone

Excellent for stews.
Super stuff, probably the nearest thing to the Roman Garum. Really brings the flavour out.

Worth trying if unable to get the anchovy sauce.
Haven’t been able to source the anchovy essence for some time so had to use the sauce for my anchovy dip. Works but have to use much more.

Back to the 1970's
You used to be able to buy this in every grocery store in UK but as Jamie Oliver does not use it and it is not trendy one has to hunt for it. Luckily Amazon comes to the rescue yet again. Mixed with punted garlic or blended into a béchamel sauce it is excellent and much more predictable than using anchovy fillets which seem to vary on saltiness here in UK products,

Brilliant Product.
I recently moved house and all my local supermarkets do not stock this product. I cant travel 25 miles to go to my old store just for this so Im glad its available on Amazon. I use it in general cooking to add a little flavour to spag boll, chillis, curries and sprinkle on pizzas. Versatile product that I cant be without. Thank you Amazon.

A great addition to your flavour cupboard
This is not the sort of product you put on toast for breakfast. It's far to strong and salty for that. Where this "sauce" comes into its own is as a deep undercurrent of flavour, in dishes like stews, soups, asian broths etc. To use the latest vernacular this is a classic umami flavour. It's not meant to stand out, but to provide a strength and robustness to your food. In the past I have used Worchestershire for this - not meant to taste it but it does provide depth to any sauce based cooking. This one is better because it has less vinegar than Worchestershire and is therefore more subtle and more rounded. Well worth getting as a flavour enhancer.. I use it at least 3 times a week in various types of dishes.
