Q: how sharp is it? compared to the canon glass? that is my big worry I love the price point but how is the edges and sharpness

I bought this lens because I thought I my Canon lens had been stolen, but it turned up. Now I have both. I did a comparison, shooting the same scene using a tripod. I looked closely at the two photos in Photoshop. The sharpness was identical. Chromatic aberrations, which weren't bad, were the same. The only difference was that the Yongnuo was brighter even though the exposure settings were the same. I'd say half a stop brighter. So you could use the same aperture as the Canon but use a slightly higher shutter speed or lower your ISO. It's a great alternative to the Canon.
