A fun and detailed Tie Bomber to add to your LEGO Star Wars collection
My son is a big fan of the LEGO Star Wars collection and has had his eye on this set for a while now. He was very grateful to receive it for his birthday this year, and I was grateful that I could buy it at a reduced price. The TIE bomber is designed brilliantly and has really achieved the feeling of the Galactic Empire's menacing presence. The set includes four characters: 1 x Tie bomber pilot, 1 x Imperial Officer: Vice Admiral Sloane, 1 x Gonk droid, and Darth Vader. This is the first set my son owns that includes a Darth Vader figure, which he is very happy about. My son managed to build the set almost entirely by himself. The instructions were easy to understand, and as with all Lego sets, the illustrations are clear and well laid out. For the most part, the model was easy to assemble, and my son only required my help for the smaller details and trickier-positioned pieces. Along with Darth Vader, my son was happy to receive another Gonk droid. He owns two of these now, including a fun festive version, and usually includes them in his space battles. He always enjoys building these characters. This tie bomber is fun to play with and is just the right size and weight to be comfortably flown around for bombing runs and space battles. The model includes two stud shooters and four torpedo bays, with six torpedoes included in the set, which my son enjoys using to crush the rebel alliance. As always, Lego has not disappointed with the quality and playability of this set. I am always happy to spend my money on these toys, as I know they will last for ages and offer many, many hours of play time for my children.

Nice addition to the imperial fleet.
This is a great set that goes well with the other recent versions of Lego Tie fighters. The build is pretty substantial and sturdy. The cockpit opens nicely with room for the Tie pilot minifigure and it has a couple of printed panels for the controls. It looks good from the front, but bear in mind that the windscreen is not built to be transparent into the cockpit. The other pod does not open as it is a weapons module on this ship. Surprisingly the front part (which is a concussion missile launcher) does not have an integrated shooter, but they have instead gone for a bomb dropping feature using flick fire missiles which works ok, but could have been better implemented. An interesting feature is the bomb delivery tube extending below the weapons pod (this is accurate to the ship and should be where the bombs drop from!). Stud shooters are well integrated for play and not too jarring or out of place for the adult who prefers to display the model. There is a small extra build of a cart which can carry additional bombs and a minifigure, nice to have but very simple. Aside from the obligatory Tie Pilot figure, there are a couple of interesting choices in this set. The imperial Gonk droid is brick built and includes a nice printed piece. Lord Vader himself is the most recent version, including the arm printing and spongey cape. Most interesting is the inclusion of Vice Admiral Sloane, a pretty niche legend’s character (at least for casual Star Wars fans). She’s a character that in my opinion isn’t likely to be reproduced any time soon when this set retires. Given recent price rises on other imperial officer figs, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her value climb a lot in the near future. Minifigure collectors might consider this set worth getting just for her. Overall, this is a good set for play and display. The RRP is a bit high, but I managed to get it on sale at £40, which is a good price for what you get.

Excellent model.
My grandson really enjoyed building this Lego. Easy to assemble for a 10 year old with a very small amount of help. Value for money, well we know all Lego is expensive, so I wouldn’t say it was cheap. The little figures that came supplied were good.

A bit boring set
It was reasonably easy to build for 9 yo child without adults help. It’s quite simple and boring to play with. After a day it’s just standing on a shelf. It is overpriced for what it is.
