We are experienced leather Crafters and are now getting into doing belts and dog leashes and needed an end skiver. 1. It ships with the blade flipped around backwards so that there are no injuries simply remove it turn it around put it back in. 2. Bolt it down or clamp it down. 3. Prepare to be amazed at how well it actually works.It just works!

This sets up really easily and works pretty darn well, especially when you compare the price for this versus a High Tech or similar splitter/skiver.The only real limitation, other than width, seems to be that it'll only skive to about 3oz. It'd be nice if it could get thinner, which would be nice for small piece work.All in all, I'm very happy with this!

I was having an adjustment issue at first, but I had an idea on how to fix it. I cut strips of leather with different thickness then I slip my desired thickness leather between the blade and the roller and made adjustments to the thickness of the strip. For example: I put a strip of 5-6 oz leather between the roller and the blade and adjust the screws so that it will sandwich the leather perfectly. I easily thinned a 9-10 oz perfectly down to 5-6 oz. Worked every time!

This product is well built but adjusting is a problem as there are adjusting screws on either side and getting an even cut is difficult. I can see the value of this product if I can fix this issue.

Simple machine, easy to use. Takes some trial and error to set the height of the blade, seems sturdy, it works.
