Thomastik Single string for Violin 4/4 Dominant - A-string Synthetic Core, Aluminium Wound, Medium

My daughter use this violin strings set on her Stainer vintage violin 4/4 since 4 years. She passed ABRSM grade 5 violin with merits from ABRSM examiners, and, therefore I highly recommend this E string and whole set.Very good delivery time..Thanks to the Seller.

I needed to replace all four strings on my fiddle, the old ones were really past their best - not helped by my appalling playing but that's another matter entirely. These strings were easy to fit and tune, and have kept their tuning 24 hours later, which is great. The tone is soft and rounded, they feel nice on my fingers, they're not sharp and making me feel like I have permanent indentations after playing just one tune. I'm happy with them and would totally recommend for a hobby/pleasure player like me.

My son doesn't play for very long, nor very frequently. This set lasted him around six months. We've already replaced one string and have had a second snap, with a third fraying. Like others have remarked, this is poor quality for the price we paid.

My last set lasted a year, it helps them last longer wiping them after every time you play.

This four star review is mainly for the very reasonable price if it is of high quality, and for the extraordinary speed of delivery. I have not used it yet, preferring to continue with the slightly defective Dominant 130 (more expensive and elaborate) string which is already in my violin.What worries me, now that I can see it and handle it, is whether it really has "a highly flexible, multi-strand nylon core" as claimed here by Amazon. The manufacturer merely calls it "chrome steel", and it does seem to be just wire, no doubt made with a steel/chromium alloy, or coated with chromium. But I can't imagine several strands of nylon inside it (as there might be for a G, D or A string with a metallic exterior).I hope I am wrong in my suspicions. I would very much welcome an opinion (or facts) from somebody who really knows about these things.

Good quality

As a professional violinist and teacher, I find these strings are affordable and I recommend them to my students and and notice a massive improvement in the sound on cheaper instruments. I notice thee are a number of amateur players on here posting reviews, so I feel it is worth pointing out that as with all strings, they will need a settling in period as they stretch out, so be sure to allow a couple of weeks before an exam for this to happen and for them to reach maximum resonance, as there is often a period of a tinny sound as they stretch.I recently purchased a very cheap instrument and these strings have made a world of difference to the sound. This is the best price I could find at the time for this product.
