Slightly more cutting than green pads
I got these as a "step up" for the green Hex Logic pads I've used on my car. The green pad is supposed to be a heavy polishing / light cutting pad and it removed light swirl marks and faint scratches with ease. My other car had a more weathered paintwork so I thought I needed more cutting power. The conclusion is that this step up is barely noticeable when used on a DA polisher. It did remove swirl marks and faint scratches with the same level of effort but it wasn't noticeably harder cutting, in fact I didn't notice much difference compared to the results with the green pad. I think the reason for that is that while the green pad has an open pore structure this orange pad has closed pores therefore the increased cutting effect could only be achieved with more force applied to the panel. This is where it gets tricky with Dual Action polishers as excessive force would just make it stall. So I presume it's a better fit for purpose on rotary machines, otherwise go for the yellow pad if you need significantly more cutting power which again is an open pore structured pad. Still no regrets in getting these pads, they remained in shape after an extensive polishing session and cleaned up well, they seem to be of great quality, well recommended with keeping the above in mind.

Awesome pad removed bird dropping damage
Great pad for my DA6 pro machine, I used some pad preparation spray from chemical guys and a light grade polish to remove some bird dropping damage to my clear coat. Couple of gentle passes and the damage is compeley removed, no marring on the paint. Cleaned pad up after use ready for next time great pad that is worthy of it's awesome reviews in detailing world.

Expensive
I had the non quantum discs before wearing them out and looked for the next model up which was these. Real good discs however chemical guys brand more than doubles the price compared to the non branded chinese makes. Paid a lot more for them on amazon compared to other stores but overall the disk is good. Ive done 4 full car passes and the pad i estimate will be able to last one more. If i was cutting small areas it would last a lot longer. Durability on these heavy cut pads wears down very fast.

Great finishing Pad
As with any Chemical Guys product I used in the past the quality is as good as the other major brands , this pad can be used as a finishing pad to spread waxes or sealant as it has no cut/abrasion. The pad will help with heat build up which can impact the performance of the product you are using and cause dusting.

Let me start off by saying I don't have a great deal of experience with polishing pads - I am pretty new to all of this. Not so with cars - I have loved cars for a lot of decades! To that end, everything was by hand. Rubbing a finish out was done by hand. Polishing done by hand. Waxing done by hand. "Wax on - wax off" comes to mind... Having purchased a new 5-6" random orbit polisher, the next step was to learn about pads. I have used Chemical Guys products in the past, and was very pleased by them. In fact, Canadian Tire (large automotive store, coast-to-coast in Canada) now sells many of these products. That's a good sign. Now, don't get me wrong. I am not about "designer labels". Function over form. It's more important how a product works than what name is on the label. Well, I decided to try these pads, even though they were more than some other pads that I see advertised. These pads - I have four different "grades" - seem well made. They have stood up well with use, although I realize that these are a "wear" item. They won't last forever. And the results I am getting with various Chemical Guys products are terrific! Will I try cheaper pads? Yeah, I might. Mind you, I have read a number of reviews of guys (and gals) who have used these cheaper pads, talk about less than ideal results. That may be subjective, but not the durability. If Chemical Guys pads last twice as long, but cost twice the price, the end result is the same as the cheap pads. So, why not use a high quality pad? If there is a difference in the composition, then using a high-grade product makes sense. At least, it does to me. I would hate to damage my trucks finish because I cheeped out on a polishing pad. I am sure that there are many out there, with loads of experience that can address this issue of quality better than me. But for my money, I think I will stick with a good, name brand product that I can depend on. Purchased with my own money. Thanks!

The Chemical Guys Quantum Medium-Heavy Cutting Pad is a must-have for anyone looking to achieve professional-grade results in paint correction. I used this 5.5-inch orange pad with an orbital polisher and a 5-inch backing plate, and the performance was outstanding. The Hex-Logic design is more than just a visual feature—it truly helps distribute product evenly and reduces heat buildup during extended use. I was able to remove moderate to heavy swirl marks, oxidation, and scratches from my car’s clear coat with ease. The medium-heavy cutting power strikes the perfect balance between aggressiveness and control, allowing for precise work without compromising the paint. Durability is another area where this pad shines. After multiple cars and several cleaning cycles, it held up remarkably well without losing its cutting ability or shape. Cleanup was easy—just a quick rinse with Chemical Guys pad cleaner, and it was ready for the next job. One of my favorite features is the beveled edge, which ensures smooth transitions and prevents the pad from digging into curves or edges. This design also minimizes the chances of leaving buffer trails, making it ideal for anyone new to paint correction. If I had to mention one drawback, it’s that the pad requires proper priming and technique to avoid clogging with compound or polish. However, this is a minor issue that can be resolved with proper maintenance and cleaning. Overall, the Hex-Logic Quantum Cutting Pad is an exceptional tool for detailers, whether you’re a hobbyist or a professional. Its performance, durability, and thoughtful design make it a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about paint correction.
