Essential piece of kitchen kit
This piece of cookware is brilliant. If like me you do not have a suitable dish in which to make tarte tatin (which requires both stove top and oven cooking), this is it. It is very sturdy. It is ideal for the first stage, where the apples are cooked with butter and sugar on the hob, as it does not warp. I do find that it takes much longer than the recommended 20 to 30 mins so be patient and do move it around so that the apples caramellise evenly. It can then be transferred to the oven once the pastry has been added. Some recipes recommend using a frying pan but how many of us have an oven big enough to hold one. This tin makes it easy to produce an impressive and popular pudding in two steps using the one tin. Most people have apples and sugar in the house at any one time. Keep some butter, a roll of shop bought pastry and a tub of vanilla icecream for serving in your freezer and you are ready to go at any timeI have not seen this item for sale in the shops.I have also purchased the larger size tin but have not used it yet.

Love it, made 2 apple and 1 plum tarte ...
Love it, made 2 apple and 1 plum tarte tatins so far. Used the recipe on the label for the apple and it makes a really nice tarte, am particularly pleased with the pastry form this recipe. Not tried it yet for a savoury onion tarte but expect it would work well.I use the dish on a gas hob and in a gas oven and have no problem with the caramel as the dish is so substantial and thick. The silver anodised aluminium finish has good release qualities.Clean up is really easy as I can safely soak it in plain water then it hand washes really easily, drawback is its not dishwasher safe, but this is a price worth paying for such a good dish.8" dish needs about 8 or 9 apples to fill and gives 8 reasonable or 6 large servings.Am planning to try this dish for making tortilla omelette as the lack of a handle makes it easy to flip over on a plate.

Tarte Tatin Dish
I wanted a Tarte Tartin dish and trawled through dozens on Amazon in prices ranging from £5 to over £100! At this price and having read all the reviews, I felt this was the most suitable, after all you don't make this dish every day of the week, so it's use would be minimal. When I saw the illustration I thought, well it looks just like an Aluminium baking dish and I have one of those. However, at this price I could take a risk. It arrived next day and I was pleasantly surprised, it is a heavy based dish, ready to go on the hob, just the right size, shape, depth and the end product was delicious. Very easy to hand wash.

Just what I needed
I had been struggling for ages to make a satisfactory tarte tatin; this dish did the trick. It works well on the hob and in the oven, and the completed tarte did not stick when turned out. I used the enclosed recipe, which was very good apart from not being specific enough about how long to cook on the hob for before transferring to the oven; the resulting tarte contained a lot of liquid.

Does not have a loose base !
The extended description of the Tarte Tatin dish on the Amazon webpage says "Loose Base". It does not have a loose base but is a very sturdy, single piece of metal that inevitably scratches as soon as using any pie slice on it.

Great value/quality tarte tatin dish
Been looking for a tatin dish for ages - went down the route of looking for an ovenproof frying pan which is not that easy without paying a fortune. Anyway, found this. Very good quality and heavy. Used it for the first time yesterday, using the recipe enclosed. Really pleased with the outcome - cooked the apples and caramel on the aga then into the hot oven to cook the pastry. Fantastic. Enjoyed by all. Left to soak for a few minutes as not supposed to go in the dishwasher - cleaned up very easily. Very reasonably priced and does the job it's supposed to do well. Recommended for sure.

Excellent tart tatin tin
I've been looking for a tart tatin tin for ages and after reading previous reviews ordered this one and I have not been disappointed! I made my first tart tatin at the weekend and this tin is brilliant. It's heavy with a good size rim for lifting in and out of oven and is an excellent size and I had no trouble using it on my electric hob to make the caramel. The tart turned out really easily and the tin was very easy to clean afterwards. I would definitely recommend it!

Very Strong Quality Tarte Tatin Tin
This Tarte Tatin tin is a quality product. Alan Silverwood never fails to impress. I used the tin to make an apple tarte tatin. I cooked the caramel on the hob using the tin directly on the heat. The tin did not buckle and did the job beautifully. The tarte was then constructed and baked on the oven. The tarte slipped from the tin onto a plate with no problems. I would not hesitate to recommend this tin.
