The Mahdi: Understanding the Awaited One

Excellent book about the man who is chosen to usher in this promise of justice and virtue – our Twelfth Immaculate Leader, the Awaited Savior – the Mahdi The book contains translation of lectures given during Moharram 1431 (2009) in different subjects about the Mahdi, the lectures targeted the regular Shia audience, so for better understanding to the content of the book I think that the reader should have some basics and good background about the Mahdi in Twelver Shia faith. Personally, I will not recommend it for beginners or non-Muslims as introduction or first book to read about Imam Al-Mahdi (may God hasten his emergence) but I will recommend it as advance read. Im about halfway through this book and have been thoroughly enjoying it. One thing to keep in mind is that the chapters do not follow a linear narrative, it appears to be a collection of different articles based on particular themes but all related to the 12th Imam. The book's main purpose is to help the believer develop a relationship with the Imam and understanding of the occultation through the discussion of a variety of topics which are divided into chapters. I would not recommend this book for someone wanting to learn the "nuts and bolts" of the belief in Imam al-Mahdi but rather for those already familiar with the basics. Once I am finished with the book entirely I am looking forward to going back and re-reading some of the chapters that I really enjoyed.

I like the book.

This book was an amazing read. I highly suggest for anyone trying to understand the concept and reality of "The Mahdi" as understood in Shia Islam. This book has special weight given that the author is a scholar in his own right - Ayatullah Muneer alkhabbaz is a professor in the Islamic Seminary of Najaf and a student of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani. His words on any topic in Islam carries a great deal of significance given his education, training, and knowledge. Knowing the author's original Arabic work in particular, one would appreciate how seamless the English translation is. It's as if this book was originally written in English. This a must read. Consider gifting this to a family member, friend, or colleague interested in this extremely relevant subject.

One of the best books on the subject of promised Messiah.

Im not sure why the publusher chose not to provide an ereader version of thus book. I imagine it would be the mist demanded version for people interested in the topic.

Very enlightening book

Insightful read. A good overview of the awaited Imam. Easy read, with some interesting facts. Definitely well worth a read

Intellectual treatise in relation to the concept of the Hidden Imam or Saviour. Very useful if you're studying the tenants of Shiism & how this ties in as a core belief.
