Should I water my orchids in addition to these drips or do they provided enough water as well?

Water sparingly, maybe 30 mls water once a week in autumn / winter, a little more in summer. Avoid direct sunlight and drafts. My orchids are thriving with the food, and even those which look almost dead, keep encouraging. They will flower again. Don't give up

Is it supposed to empty over night? I cut the tip off and placed the feeder in the orchid last night and when I got up this morning, the it was empty

They should empty gradually. Maybe you cut to much off.
