Marine Sources Nano Protein Skimmer, 250 Litre

INITIALLY THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS A GOOD BUY how wrong was ifirstly one of the legs snapped so i used some sealant to hold in place which did the jobsecondly the cap on the pump that covers the impellor snapped a lug so now the cover does not fasten down correctlyits made of cheap plasticthe full pump is plastic and when you read reviews about this pump it says they are made of metal which this one isntso is this a cheap copy pointless trying to return this as all pond solutions were very unhelpful when i tried to return a faulty cannister filter a couple of years ago i ended up throwing it away i think i will stick to bubble magus which i use on my main tank

Over the past 12 months, I used 4 or 5 of this protein skimmer. It works fine, not to noisy and decent amount of semi dry skimmate when adjusted properly. It's the perfect size for a small sump i.e Red Sea Reefer 170.On the negative side, this is a low quality item build with very low quality materials and zero quality control from Marine Sources. After some use, mostly 2 months, the pump stops working and good luck trying to find a replacement in the UK!At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.I would recommend spending a bit more and purchase a more reliable item from a different company.
