Good antenna, excellent after sales support
I bought this for my RT3S as an enhancement over the stock antenna. The first one I received seemed to be performing about the same as stock, in some cases worse on 70cms so I checked it out on my VNA and noticed the SWR was way out of band. So, the good news! I contacted Retevis support and bad an almost instant reply from a staff member called Karen who asked me for the details. Upon sending these they immediately promised to send me out a replacement antenna, kept me up to date with tracking details and the like, and I received the replacement as quickly as I did my initial order. As you can see, this one is pretty much bob on for a handheld antenna, and on receive at least is performing much better. So, a well built antenna, it certainly seems rugged enough and looks like it can take a bit of a battering, good performance and most importantly of all, excellent service from Retevis.

rt-87 first class ham transceiver!
I received my radio yesterday and the quality of this product soon became apparent as soon as I opened the box. It has a very sturdy feel to it with very positive buttons. This is not a Baofeng in any shape or form and the menu structure is much the same as the Tyt radios. As I am somewhat of an addict of hand held transceivers, the menus were easy to navigate and I programmed the radio via the keypad in about 20 minutes with all my local repeaters and some simplex channels. This radio is small but the speaker audio is a pleasure to listen to and I have received very good transmit audio reports. The 2 hours charge time is reflected in the lower capacity battery but so far, after some lengthy qsos on 5 watts the first charge shows no sign of diminnishing. I am truly delighted with this excellent quality radio and would recommend it to anyone willing to pay a little bit more for a lot more quality. I am totally blind and have been able to programme the radio straight out of the box due to it's excellent voice prompt with no sighted help so would recommend it for anyone who is totally blind wanting a radio they can programme without needing help.

Perfect upgrade for a Retevis RA-89
Fantastic antenna - the perfect complement for my new Retevis RA-89. On my first trip out I received a 120-mile call, and successfully responded. Pretty good for a handheld radio!

Absolutely fantastic antenna, worth every penny and more
These are absolutely brilliant, out of all of my hand held dual band antennas this one beats the pants off all of them. They have incresed the the S meter readings on all my handhelds by at least 6 S points and more when listening to reapeaters that are 10 to 15 miles and further..I can also open them from the comfort of my arm chair, i can not recommended these highly enough, what a massive difference these have made, give them a try, you will be just as surprised as i was.. note, i paid cash for the two i bought, i did not get them in exchange for reviews, i hate insentive paid for reviews..This happens to often on here and the only person who wins is the seller.. My short review is genuine..

Great antenna (Retevis 771). Works really well.
If you’re looking to improve the performance of your stock antenna, then this is the one. A major improvement will be seen. Highly recommended. I’ve got three of them here on various radios…. Massive increase in performance, but quite a bit longer in length than the stock antenna. You won’t be disappointed.

Better on 70cm than on 2m
On 70cm it gives better receive performance than the stock antenna that came with my transceiver (probably due to its additional length). On 2m the performance is demonstrably worse and the SWR is off the chart. It seems to be resonant down at 138MHz not at 144MHz. I will keep it for use on 70cm and cannot recommend it as a "dua band antenna" for 2m and 70cm.

Low SWR at UHF(430) but High at VHF(145)
Hi, I bought the SMA Male version. The Good: It's well made and fells like it could take a beating. UHF (430MHz) SWR is low at around 1.14. This is within the published spec on Amazons webpage. The Bad: VHF performance is out of spec. See the analyzer readings. It's meant to have an SWR below 1.5 between 136-174MHz, but the lowest SWR is 1.77 and that's at 180.5MHz. If you're using this to transmit on the 2M amateur band (144-146MHz) then the SWR is somewhere above 3.5, which is too high (but it will be fine for receiving). The published length is also wrong. It's listed as 37.5cm, but the antenna I received is 36.5. For anyone that's interested, the diameter of the antenna base by the SMA connector is 14.4mm. If you have a HT with tight antenna clearances, measure up first. For me, the search for a good 2M band antenna continues.

Worked way better than the std one the radio came with
