Avtex Tourer Three 7" Caravan & Motorhome Club Edition Garmin Sat Nav

I have owned many Garmin Sat Navs over many years, so when my previous model became slow to respond I decided to upgrade, this item has not disappointed. One main issue in the past was the speed of the refresh when navigating around roundabouts it actually keeps up with the movement of the vehicle unlike my previous units, I often could miss the required junction. A 7" screen and lifetime updates of software and maps is a bonus, but like anything like this it is only as good as the information it has been given it's always good to remember this when using any Sat Nav. The Avtex is not any heavier than a average mobile phone, and considering this item normally placed on windscreen mount the weight is not really as important as the functionality of the Sat Nav. This version is really aimed at motor homes and caravans but also is perfectly usable for cars, you can enter your outfit dimensions and switch between car and your outfit depending which you are driving. The unit is accurate and never failed to find a satellite signal, with a large 7" screen with a good clear viewing angle and alot of options over the more standard versions. This is a little expensive over some others that are available, but it is really aimed at someone with a motor home or caravan outfit so if road size or low bridges are a concern to you then this is a good choice.

Bought this for use with a caravan . Entered all our caravan dimensions and took it out for a test drive in our local area to see if it would avoid narrow lanes . It failed on the first attempt taking us along a 3 mile lane when we could have stayed on A roads until last half a mile . Tried it again hoping this was just a blip but second time tried to take us down a lane a very narrow not suitable for large vehicle ( very tight in a small car) Sent it back as it’s a very expensive item if you can’t rely on it . Gone back to using google maps .

I thought this would solve my problems, not so, still sends me down b roads/tracks. I was expecting more for the expense. Would be good to have a clock also! Used it in Europe and sent me down a few narrow roads.

Great sat nav for caravan towing. Works well, provides lots of useful information whilst driving. Warns of speed limits, awkward turns, weight restrictions etc.

Whilst on our trip up to Scotland our Snooper packed up, so I immediately looked for a new replacement and the Avtex 3 came up as one I was looking for. As we were away I had to look quickly for a Amazon hub collection point. Fortunately where we were parked up at was perfect. It arrived the next day mid-afternoon so was delighted with that. The 2 downloads (1 x system & 1 x maps) took around 2 hours but I’m guessing that’s down to my van router, however I was pleased when it completed and I could take a look through the settings etc. As with all Sat Navs it just takes a little getting used to but found it easy and common sense. Our old Snooper 6810 is prehistoric compared to this latest Avtex. It doesn’t have the built-in dash cam but with that costing around an extra £80 or so for the next model up I didn’t think it worth it as I already have a screen dashcam mounted anyway. It worked faultlessly for our short journey from Dunbar to Edinburgh and directed us straight to the built in Caravan and Motorhome Club sites without any problem. The C&MC have this on offer in their magazine but I got it for around the same price… It’s too early into our long trip to give a proper assessment but I think after 8 weeks on the road will be a better judgement call after we return. Looking forward to my new toy ✊

Needed replacement for small 5” satnav, we use in motorhome - was finding text too small and layout not clear. This new Tourer 3 is brilliant - easy to read, great layout with good balance between map picture and text, Great features like keeping you advised of nearest site, cafe, fuel and loads of info pre programmed into the set up. Also updates over wifi so no need to bring in an update, as connected to wifi in Moho and never sent us the wrong way yet (3 months and 10 trips) so seems to be doing everything we need it to!

I bought this sat nav after reading other reviews saying that they had used one of these on a number of vehicles which had heated screens and had never had a problem. This l have found not to be the case as it is regularly telling me that it has lost the satellite reception and then stopped working, or it lags behind the cars actual position telling me to stay in one lane when I should be in another because it has not caught up with my actual position. Also speed limit changes occur and it does not warn you until after they have occurred and then alarms go off, which when you are travelling abroad in a city you don’t know is very unnerving and distracting, and was not what i was expecting from such a well known brand. Because of my experience i find that i could not recommend this item to anyone else whose vehicle has a heated screen unless they are able to try it out first.
