![The Hobbit Trilogy [Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray] [2015] [Region Free]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81D0+BnZDiL.jpg)

All three films from director Peter Jackson's blockbuster prequel to 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy. Set in Middle-Earth 60 years before events in 'The Lord of the Rings', 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' (2012) follows the adventures of Hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who, at the instigation of the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), suddenly finds himself co-opted into joining a company of 13 Dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) to help reclaim the Dwarves' lost kingdom of the Lonely Mountain from the clutches of a dragon. After setting out on their quest from the safety of Bag End, the band of travellers soon find themselves pitted against a range of strange and fearsome opponents, in addition to a small, slimy creature known simply as Gollum (Andy Serkis). In 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' (2013), while Gandalf heads south on his own, Bilbo, Thorin and the Dwarves enter the treacherous Mirkwood Forest on their way to the mountain. When they reach Lake-town Bilbo has to perform the role he was assigned at the start of the quest - to find a secret door that will lead him to the lair of Smaug the dragon (voice of Benedict Cumberbatch). In the final instalment, 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' (2014), Bilbo, Thorin and the other Dwarves have unintentionally released Smaug from the Lonely Mountain and endangered the residents of Lake-town. Bilbo has to make a difficult decision when Thorin puts his desire to find the royal jewel Arkenstone before his loyalty to his friends. Meanwhile, Gandalf discovers that the evil Sauron has returned, commanding a horde of Orcs to attack the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo and his friends must fight for their survival as five armies meet in battle. The rest of the cast includes Luke Evans, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly and Christopher Lee.Note: Please check if the firmwares of your player is updated before the units are played.

What it is and what it's not
Motion picture quality aside, here is what you get with this package:1. 3 cases of bluray and bluray 3D disks - 4 disks per case. Each case contains 2 disks for 2D and 2 disks for 3D version of the film. The edition is theatrical, it is not extended, director's cut or something like that. It's the same thing you could see at the movie theater.2. A paper notepad. For me it is pretty useless, I bought the pack just to see the short version of the film for an affordable (for 3D, anyway) price. The notepad is of relatively low quality and I can't imagine using it anywhere. If you are fan of Tolkien, you might find a place for it.3. An ultraviolet (i.e. digital, online) version of theatrical version of the film, so you can watch it from anywhere. Like smartphone. You are that first person on Earth that wants to watch Hobbit on his smartphone, aren't you?And that's basically it. If you are looking for extended / limited / directors / final etc cuts, this is NOT it. It includes some production videos for those who are interested, though. The first part of the trilogy has English, French, Italian, Mandarin audio tracks and a few more languages in subtitles, including Bulgarian and Dutch. English is in both 5.1 and 7.1. However, second and third parts are only in English, Italian and Chinese.

You don't need the extended version! - a brilliant and cheap way of getting all three 3D films in the trilogy!.
A fantastic trilogy that I enjoyed as much as the extended versions of the original trilogy. Unlike said first trilogy you can get away with just buying this theatrical-cut as the amount added to the extended versions of The Hobbit are greatly shorter in length and do nothing to add to or explain away the story-plot. In short they are just fluff added for The Hobbit die-hard nerds, so if you want to see an added song, a couple of lines extra from a character or a slightly different camera angle then buy the extended-version. For 99% of people this theatrical cut will do just fine.

3 Great films at a great price for 3D Blu rays, which were very immersive to watch.
Great quality 3D Blu rays of 3 very enjoyable films. Such a shame tv manufacturers pushed 3D so hard, then seemingly abandoned it because it didn't take of quickly enough3D films like this are so much more immersive on a large screen tv and I will try to stick with this format in any new tv, despite the minor inconvenience of needing to wear the glasses. 3 great films packaged at a very good price, if you like the Lord of the Rings film series, you should enjoy these in 3D.

To Be Watched
I loved the original DVD release - so I am hoping that the 3D effects will make it a more outstanding experience as I have not actually got around to watching these films yet due to a prolonged stay in Hospital. Just hope there is nothing wrong with the discs as I bought them last year so wouldn't be able to return them now.

Stunningly Beautiful Films
Well what can you say about this Trilogy apart from amazing, beautiful, and I never get bored of watching them all, I am a true fan and love them all, and Blu-ray just makes them 100% better viewing, and a must have for all fans, who want to upgrade from DVDs.The 3D throughout the films is stunning, the only thing the boxset lacks for me is a booklet, other than that no faults at all.
