The Askins is a modern take on the classic Mary Jane silhouette. This women's shoe features a premium Temperley leather upper, a padded collar and a Velcro strap fastening for an alternative to a buckle. A SoftWair memory insole offers maximum comfort. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

I foolishly thought I knew better than everyone else
I should have listened to the other reviews and bought the full size smaller, but since this is my hundredth pair of Docs, I foolishly thought I knew better than everyone else!They are way bigger than standard Dr. Martens sizes. They look like a great everyday shoe, but must be returned because they too big to wear. The next size down is now $30 more expensive now than time of purchase (the downside of Amazon shopping). 5 stars cause they would be perfect if they fit.

Comfortable Mary Jane's from Doc Martin
These are by far the most comfortable Mary Jane's I have ever owned. Over the years I have owns everything from cheap Chinese slippers $200 Mary Jane type shoes. These are by far the best. With the quality and durability that I trust from the Doc Martin Brands I am more than happy with this product. If you want comfortable shoes that you can wear in the summer and still look cute these are perfect. They are made out of good quality leather and well padded on the inside. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Shoes fit just as expected.

I have had a recent knee surgery so I need shoes that are comfortable, stable and slip resistant
I had to return the first pair I ordered because they were too large and obviously they already been worn. Being a doc marten lover for a long time, I ordered a second pair 1 size smaller. I wore them to work every day that week without complaint. I have had a recent knee surgery so I need shoes that are comfortable, stable and slip resistant. Even in the rain, again these shoes were great. Unlike other reviewers I didn't think they looked orthopedic, just a nice shoe for anyone.

Great shoes to wear with a uniform
These shoes are really comfy the style is great to wear with us school uniform kind of edgy and kind of dressy we knew they were going to fit big going in you are a little bit bigger than the last pair of Doc Martens we bought the same size but still really comfy great for kids and sometimes have to sit on the floor criss cross applesauce no buckles that hurt your shins great school shoe

Granny Shoes
They’re decent quality and super comfortable. But unfortunately the style is lacking and the large strap makes them look like Granny shoes. I work in an office environment but refuse to wear heels, so I thought these would provide more support than flats, while having a cool Dr. Marten’s edge. But there’s no edge... I wish I had sent back, but I was so excited to have new shoes that I threw them on right on. Should have stuck with their more traditional Mary Janes. Also, they have easily gotten scruffed up on the toes. And I’ve only woren them a couple weeks. I totally have buyer’s remorse!!!

Glad I Got Them!
Cute and super comfy! Bought these to wear to Las Vegas as I was told to expect a lot of walking. They didn't disappoint! And there's actually a soft pocket for lots of arch support which I love.

Great high quality shoes!!
Great high quality shoes!! Love them.These run slightly big in my opinion but this is okay because they are for my daughter to wear as school uniform shoes and her feet are still growing. This is actually great because I dont want to have to buy her a second pair of school shoes in the middle or towards then end of the school year.

Fit well, comfortable and durable
I'm a pretty standard 8.5 wide & was unsure of the sizing for this shoe. I own a few pairs of Doc boots in a size 8 (UK 6) so tried it for these and they fit perfect as well. The adjustable strap on the top is nice, and there's still room around my toes. These shoes are quite comfortable & go with everything - I wear them with skirts/dresses for work, & even took them on vacation for lots of walking & even hiking. Couldn't really be more pleased.

Comfortable and quality.
Comfortable. I bought the lace up version so bought these for spring. They are so comfortable l am on my feet a lot and drive daily . Perfect and good quality as per Dr Martens.

I love docs so when looking for a pair of non-slip on was happy to find these. Comfortable from day one although, if bare legged, can rub heel sore. More suited to wider foot tho.

Wer diese Schuhe kaufen möchte sollte eine Nummer kleiner bestellen... ansonsten der Wahnsinn wenn man auf dr. Martens steht... innen und außen tolle.. Lieferung schneller als erwartet... preiswerter geht es immer aber naja mal muss man sich etwas gönnen
