I was looking for satin ribbon to edge a square of fleece that I had left over to make baby blanket. I wanted a nice soft ribbon and one that would sew on a machine. This ribbon was delivered in a small pack about 3 inches long....the above images are where I had pressed it in half length ways ready for adding to the fleece. It pressed nicely using a silk/wool setting and I had crimped the ends and sealed with a flame as prior to that it was pulling...once sealed it was fine. It was very easy to work with and actually sewed very nicely as you can see from the images and actually looks very nice...far better than just leaving a raw edge. The ribbon looks very pretty. I was disappointed initially as I had ordered 2 and expected it to come in one complete length...it comes in separate packs so be mindful of this when ordering. It was my error as I had assumed like other ribbon and fabric, would come in one piece; fortunately, one strip was enough in the end for this blanket which to be honest isn't that big. If using as I did as a blanket border/edging, the only thing I would say is to make sure you use a fine enough needle but mostly, when moving under the needle, be mindful of the feed dogs as i had forgotten and had a couple of scuffs on the ribbon where it had caught. Again that is user error...not the ribbon. I struggled to get wider satin ribbon so chose this...it is more than good enough for this use although ideally, I would have liked the ribbon a little more supple...its far from stiff but I would prefer softer. At £2.69 for a 5 metre piece, it works out as 54 pence a metre and I guess this is good value. It would be perfect for bouquets, decorations and crafting and on the fleece, sewed like a dream. Definitely recommended.
