Good general outdoor shoe not great for hiking
Pros: Fits as it should, very comfortable, light weight, better than average grip when compared to running shoe or sneaker but compared to a hiking shoe it has very poor grip. Looks really stylish and cool.Cons: Not waterproof at all the mesh comes down all they way pretty much the sole, very little support moving side to side or back and forth it is a flexible mesh so your foot will push against with and side to side movement or going up or down hills (talking about the shoe itself not the arch support)This is basically a running shoe with a harder more rubber sole. I am not a crazy or advanced hiker but I was looking for something that would be good for day hikes and nice and light weight. Overall it is okay not great. The first thing I noticed is it is basically a normal tennis/running shoe which is good and what I was looking for; however after using it for awhile the lack of support made it barely any better than a tennis shoe for hiking. If you were going up or down a hill on the trail your feet will push against the mesh of the shoe and basically of the sole. It is very much like a light weight running shoe on top. I wouldn't use it for trail running though because the sole is a hard rubber with no real flex so it would not be great for that either. It is a very comfortable shoe and I would recommend it for someone who just wants a shoe that they can use outside and get dirty. My biggest complaint is that it has no water proof properties what so ever. There is a gortex version that might be better. Wherever you see mesh in the picture that is all between your feet and the outside world mesh with a tiny bit of fabric. I knew this wouldn't be good for trudging through muddy trails or puddles. But I mean walking through dew your socks will get soaked, step even in a shallow puddle you are screwed and soaked. the mesh comes down all the way to the start of the sole in many areas (look at the side between the Adidas logo, all that is completely mesh. The forward most part of the toe and the heel are the only places with solid material to block water) The one good part though is they dry pretty quickly, the shoe not your sock, because they are so thin. Overall this shoe doesn't quite work for what it is meant to be a cross between athletic shoe and hiking shoe. It isn't rugged enough to be a good hiking shoe. And its semi hiking sole makes it not great for other uses. I like what they tried to do but it misses the mark. The best use would be a relatively flat dry path

Super comfortable and versatile on all terrain; just double check the sizing
I needed some new trail/camping shoes, and after looking at other brands I ended up deciding on the AX2's. Once I got the right size (more on this later) the shoes fit nice and comfy. The inside has thin but noticeable padding; the flexible sides and toe area are great - the AX2's don't feel like other shoes where they make your foot conform to the shape of the shoe walls because they're stiff.I got to use these across a lot of varied terrain, from gravel, dirt trails, rock riverbeds, downed trees, and sand - and the tread pattern was very capable on any of these surfaces. On non-trail surfaces (concrete, asphalt) they tread actually acts as an impact absorber, and you can definitely feel it when you take a step, as they are very comfortable to walk in for long periods of time both on and off-road.Also, at $80/pair you would be mistaken to pass these shoes off as "cheap" compared to other brand "trail" shoes that seem to hover around the $100+ price point. They are very well made, feel great when laced up, and are very versatile. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the US sizing seems off; I normally wear a 10.5 in athletic and casual shoes, but when I ordered the 10.5 it was way too long; With medium thickness socks on, I could squeeze my last two fingers (ring and pinkie) in between my heel and the back of the shoe. I went to a size 10 though and they fit perfectly.

Different, but lightweight and comfy.
I have the higher boot-style GoreTex version of these as well. I purchased the non-GoreTex low-tops here. I do a fair amount of day hikes from March-October every year and was finally ready for some new shoes. Other shoes I own and have used:Vasque RiftVasque Mantra GTXSalomon XA PRO 3DSalomon SpeedCrossPersonally, I find the Adidas AX2's to be very good all around trail shoes for day hiking and even trail running. Even though they may look heavy, they are lighter weight than any of my Salomon trail running shoes. and I think the AX2s give me a little better support. But like any shoe there are pros and cons:Pros:** Light weight. Even the GoreTex hightop boots are very light.** They breathe far better than the shoes I have listed above.** They don't end up stinky like the Salomons I have owned.** The extra toe room is nice... on longer hikes our feet naturally swell.Cons:** No plate so the bottoms are a tad under-protected.** Heel is slightly higher than normal. Nice going up hill but a hinderance going downhill.** It is a shoe with no identity. Is it a trail runner? Is it a hiker? Is it an approach shoe? It isn't really any of those.** The laces are junk and the lace pocket on the toe will rip the toe fabric. The sizing and fit is exactly what I expected. Neither too narrow or too big. I recommend re-lacing will better laces + skipping the toe loop. It is a great shoe, just be ready for something a little different than your standard hiking shoe.

Comfort.
I got a pair of these back in 2015 and loved them. Had a search and found a couple of pairs so I'm sorted for the next while. I have flat feet and no arches and these were/are the most comfortable shoes I've ever found. Cheers.

Fits the bill
Good shoe at sale price but not sure if I'd pay full price. Purchased as a back up for my Merrell Capra's but don't seem as solid. Look great and nice traction sole. Very comfortable and sizing is spot on.
