I bought this grater somewhat begrudgingly as our previous tool, a less expensive Ekco, went missing. Turns out our daughter liked our old Ecko better than the one she was using. Fine, happy to help, but I couldn't find a reasonable replacement locally. So I bought this Microplane online, begrudgingly because of it's price, and the fact that I couldn't hold it my hands before buying it.Now that I have it, I feel that it's worth the extra money. It's nice and large, quite rigid, and amazingly sharp. It's as though they actually sharpen the grater openings instead of merely manufacturing it in a way that simply leaves an raw stamped edge. Everyone who's picked it up to use has actually commented that it seems more like a pro's tool than of a kitchen gadget. Our old Ecko was perfectly usable, but this is a better tool, and I'm happy to have it. Mine came with snap on plastic guard that protects fingers and preserves its sharpness in the drawer.

Yet another high quality product from Microplane. Blades are very sharp, handle is sturdy, excellent construction. Highly recommend for shredding off larger pieces of cheese, etc

This thing is perfect for what we wanted. We started buying the "Farmhouse" grate on these preshredded cheeses at the store and wondered if there was a different grate we could get that would do this. Of course... a 5 minute search and the problem was solved and it was on order. Amazon gets it to my house before I could even finish the bag of monterey jack that caused the question in the first place and sure enough... this this is exactly what we wanted. And just like the micro microplane grater that we use for parmesan and cheddar and so on... it's awesome.totally love it and we will not have to buy the more expensive pre-shredded stuff again. I have the Microplane box grater, but, let's face it, box graters are clumsy. If you're gonna have one, I have the best. But I still don't like it, which lead me to buying this. I used it last night for the first time on a block of cheddar for taco's. Ok, LOVE IT! Sharp, as you'd expect from Microplane, and big. Bigger than that pic looks. I read someone said the cover is a little hard to get off. It is, but you can do it, and hey, it's for your safety, so it's hardly an issue in my opinion. The grater is great and the no slip bar on the bottom works good too. I'm so glad I ditched my box grater. Microplane is the best.

I was Very Very disappointed in this grater the only reason I bought it is the other Two Graters I had bought grated it Thin ..... I didn’t need another Thin grating grater... 😢😢Other than that I will say it was Very well built and had a nice wide grating plate and comfortable handle Very nice all except it didn’t grate coarse like it said it would.
