Well what started as an innocent pursuit to clear my sinuses using a natural method turned bad very quickly. I recently bought a portable steam sauna with a small cache to add different natural additives to add to your steam session. After overcoming a sinus infection that seemed to linger longer than I had anticipated I felt a good steam was in place to clear out the last of the infection. While talking to friends and family I decided that adding some pure menthol crystal would be a good mild way to really give the sickness the boot. This is where I went wrong, soooo terribly wrong! I started by warming up the steamer and placing a pinch of crystals into the basin innocently thinking a small extra pinch wouldn’t be so bad. I mean hey this was a “natural remedy” and in no way could this innocent product be that harmful. What ensued was pure torture and pure enlightenment at the same time. I stepped into the steam room and instantly my eyes absorbed ever bit of evaporated menthol it could blinding me so I couldn’t find the zipper the get out. Then of course breathing became labored and the oils started soaking into my lungs like a tide rushing back to shore. Then my skin felt like I had been dipped in burning oil and the purest of glacier water all at the same time. Then thee enlightenment ensued. I stumbled out of the steam room gasping for air and the most pure ice cold breath filled my lungs and was transported through my body and not only did i have the clarity of a thousand galaxies I saw the creation and destruction of life itself. Or I had a stroke, either way, this was great stuff be careful and use in moderation.

A full package of this menthol crystal. They smell good and relaxing, but you won’t really smell it unless you pour a lot out, and be close enough. I tried to shower with them besides, but they don’t dissolve in water, and really can’t smell too much of it (or maybe I put too little). My kid accidentally put it in her mouth and spit it out saying too bitter. Thank god she doesn’t have any allergy (I think maybe because it’s food grade?) but please do put it away from children!
