They work great, but do get moldy. They are so cheap, I clean several times and then replace. Easier than a backed up sink.

does this work on a plastic sink stopper?

I didnt find it all that useful. It didnt suction to the sink & if you ran any water it just slipped off to the side. I wouldnt buy this again.

No you shouldn't have been able to push them "away" with stream of water. Your "tub chrome plug" needs a bit of a "flatter" top, as there is a suction cup below the inside center of this item. So: Wet the top your tub chrome plug when it is locked into YES-DRAIN position > place this item OVER it > push down center of this item where the (underneath) suction cut is so it *sticks* to the tub chrome drain, and try again. It should stay tight if you are pushing enough where the underneath suction cup has a good connection. FYI mine is many weeks old now, and I have only "de-suctioned" it to clean it. It has stayed connected tighly between tub water uses (following above sequence) until I chose to tug it to remove it manually to clean. Again - under item suction cup must be wet and pushed into a somewhat flat-ish tub chrome drain (which is in the YES-DRAIN position) in order to "stay put". Love this! Wishing you well!
