Q: Can it be used indoor?

Not propose to be used as an indoor butane gas burner, even it works quite well as outdoor use. Some guy wrongly managed to connect it with propane gas canister and wrongly set it at big gas level before igniting it, i see the risk, as they even donot check connect status and leackage at all. As the title show it is designed an outdoor stove, i suggest you only use it as an outdoor backpacker stove.

Q: May either propane or butane be safely used?

The interface of the outdoor gas burner is for tranditional butane gas canister——long canister, other than flat caniste. It is specially designed for friends who donot have mines or family banks. Long canister（butane gas ）is around 1/2 cheaper, but with 32.3% higher heat value compared to flat canister. Another advantage is canister itself is around 40% lighter. The only disadvantage is below 32F, the gas will stay at liquid status and no gas out（that is why direct connect is useful and safe, when the gas is flowing out, the canister is getting coolining. But anyhow if you have propane gas in your long canister, it is ok to use. BUT MAKE SURE DONT HAVE YOUR LONG CANISTER BE FILLED MUCH PROPANE GAS, PROPOSE ONLY TO FILL ITS 1/3 WEIGHT IN URGENT NEED. but why dont directly buy cheaper and good butane gas canister, right? Q: What is the inflate valve adapter used for?

The inflate valve is to be used for gas inflating between long canister and flat canister. Thinking about you run off of gas, you can borrow some gas from others, and keeping both small stove gas burner running. Just take care, donot inflate too much from flat canister. That gas in flat canister has bigger pressure. That is why they are heavy and thick. Long canister used for this outdoor stove burner is comparatively safe and light.
