Great for newer piano players
I love this book. Our family had it long ago, and it is a comfort to play simplified piano music that is challenging for a new player like me, but still sounds nice.

Still Great After 6 Years and It Is Easy Level but Not Level One
I've been trying to play from this book for 6 yeas and I'm glad. If it was any easier, the main parts of the compositions would lose their identity. The one step easier than this would be "big note," but that is only if you reading ability is at zero, day one. Even if that's where one's reading ability is, this is still very important to have. Just reading and maybe learning parts from this is highly satisfying. I've seen this on other pianos in other's homes, this is definitely a classic and if this seems difficult, go look at the edition that doesn't say, "easy," that one is scary. Even if you need big note or book grade one level those compositions are not very good and a waste of time to learn, but these are not, these are the real deal. Easy to play high quality classical piano? no, never, but this is in the easy arrangement and printing format. I got the comb binding, so it remains flat on the stand.

Good Book, but not particularly Easy
So here's the deal. Book 2 in this series is actually worthy of the title "Easy Piano." If you really want easier pieces (for students, for sight reading, etc), book 2 is probably the better bet, because the pieces are actually on the easier end of the spectrum (not beginner level, though!).This book is generally quite a bit more advanced than book 2. This is a less friendly book for relatively new students of the piano. I think a lot of lower level pianists could buy this book and feel like they were misled by the title. Now, that said, for someone closer to intermediate level, I actually feel like this is the more satisfying book to play from. There is a more interesting selection of music here, with many nice arrangements of well known pieces. Many of the pieces here aren't originally for piano, but are instead arrangements for piano. Many of these arrangements are pretty nice! So, if you want genuinely easy-ish pieces, go with book 2. Book 2 is better for people who want simpler sight reading material, or who want tunes they have a good chance of learning in relatively short order. Book 1 (this particular book) is better for more advanced pianists... perhaps intermediate level. It is probably more musically satisfying than book 2, but at the expense of being also a good bit more difficult in general.

Good for an intermediate player
I am a beginner but I use this book to help me stretch to get better. I would say someone who has 6 months of piano lessons should be able to at least attempt these arrangements. An advanced player I know uses this book to practice sight reading.

Wonderful collection
I’m a music teacher. I have used this book for years. Ordered this one for 14 y/o student who enjoys classics. Nice introduction to many composers including the most familiar; great way to introduce others they may not know. Pieces aren’t terribly difficult but I wouldn’t call them exactly easy as the title suggests. Lots of opportunities to encourage and improve finesse in development of expression and pedaling skills.Highly recommend.

Excellent motivation for studying piano after 40 year absence
About one year ago I purchased both volumes 1 and 2 of Library of Easy Piano Classics - they have been inspirational to me as a returning student of the piano. I studied for 10 years as a young adult, then dropped it for 40 years and decided to return a year ago at age 70. My fingers felt like lead, I could barely read music, and I almost gave up. With the help of my piano teacher, I am re-learning the piano and studying the usual exercises (Hanon, Czerny), but the best part is learning to read music again and practicing these beautiful classical pieces in an "easy", shorter format. These books inspire me to take on the original compositions. I am gaining speed and dexterity practicing the abbreviated easy versions of classical music - and believe me, they are not the usual kindergarten variety of "easy" - they do challenge me but they don't tire me out as I regain my skills. One year after resuming my lessons, I am playing original Chopin and Beethoven pieces, but I also study many pieces from these easy volumes as an adjunct to the more difficult original pieces - just for pure pleasure, enjoyable, and fun. I recommend both these books to beginners and those who are re-learning the piano - you and others will love to hear you play ; these books will motivate you to not give up as you build your skills and eventually take on original works. This set of books is for my piano teacher, at his request, who will use them for students of all ages.

Lots of easy classical music
The book itself is great--3 stars because it was sent USPS instead of UPS as requested. The book was rolled into a ball in order to fit in a mailbox, destroying the binding in doing so. Not very happy--usual issue with Amazon
