Great for reluctant writers!
My second grader has had absolutely terrible handwriting since Pre-K, due to various issues. It had started to bother her this year, and we jumped on the Handwriting without Tears curriculum they were using for my Kindergartner when she was learning to print in preschool. My 2nd grader LOVES this series, and it's really improved her handwriting. She's so excited about learning cursive, and her handwriting is readable now. It's not "Palmer method" but no one uses that anyway. This is easy to use and practical. My only complaint is that there's a lot of review of print at the beginning of this book, which she did NOT want to do, so we skipped to the cursive section. At least she's getting something out our quarantine time!

Didn't like the type of cursive.
My 8 year old was really wanting to learn cursive. I saw this book recommended by another homeschooling mom, and without realizing how different cursive methods can be, I ordered it as well. My husband and I were both taught loopy, traditional cursive, and this is NOT that. My daughter didn't need the manuscript review, so we skipped ahead to the cursive intro, and I found quickly that it isn't what I want my daughter to learn. I've heard great things about HWT, so I know some people love it, but it's not for those who want a traditional instruction in cursive. We stopped using it after just a few of the pages. I would just say to parents to look at the style of writing you want your child to learn before purchasing this!

Great book for independent learning!!!
My 7 year old wanted to learn cursive so I got this for him and had him do two pages a day by himself. I feel like I got away with something because he totally taught himself cursive with this book and very little help from me. Full disclosure, he is easy to teach and has a great memory but the book is set up well.

Love This Series
Just as the years we’ve used to the previous years books to establish a strong printing foundation- this cursive kickoff lays out cursive letter formation in a logical and easy to follow way. This book includes a thorough review of print letters before starting on cursive letters. Love HWT and am so glad we are using this book to teach our son cursive in our homeschool third grade year.

Great for teaching and practicing
Have used many hwot books over the years and this one doesn't disappoint. I didnt realize this book starts out reviewing proper print writing but that has been a welcome review. My 7 yr has greatly improved both his print and cursive with this book so quickly. He actually looks forward to this book since he is so proud of his accomplishments with it.
