I had not used my Western Digital 3 T external hard drive in a few years. I plugged in the original transformer and the drive refused to start, even though the led light was illuminated. I ordered a new transformer and the drive is now working again. I would highly recommend this transformer, because the price is reasonable and it works as advertised.

Moved, lost all my cords, for some reason, replaced my wires by purchasing them through Amazon, all have worked great so far. So, yes this cord will work with your Digital My Book.

In a general purge to clean up extra cables etc. my original WD Essential cord was thrown away. I tried quite a few other cords I had and they didn't power up my back-up drive. I was a bit skeptical that this would work - but trusted that the name of it said what it does. It worked perfectly and powered up my WD backup drive. I was then able to access older files and start the back-up process again!
