I wonderful precision instrument; a gardening essential.
Given that when I ordered this item it had the notation “frequently returned item,” and the stated guidelines, I feel obliged to comment. This is a wonderful tool. It is quality built: all metal except for the cut stem gripper and assembled using screws. I am amazed at the inner design which maintains to trigger to blade connection regardless of the length. I got it because I can no longer bend due to a bad knee and needed a flower dead-header at a distance. It is perfect for this and easily retrieves the dead flowerhead. Also great for removing lower leaves from tomatoes. What is now for me a major use is biweekly trimming of the rapidly-growing green shoots of my wisteria, which is attempting to destroy the eaves of my one-story house. I am sorry that I didn’t find this years ago. That said, it is a precision instrument not a massive slugger. The guidelines say: “We suggest you not to cut branches thicker than 1 inch” (sic). I suggest that that is an excessive overstatement, as I would not expect it to easily cut a woody stem more than a quarter an inch in diameter. If you need to cut thick woody shoots get a heavyweight pole pruner or a pole chain saw!! I bet the person complaining about a broken trigger was pushing the limit. As to the closure retainer coming apart, it is constructed using a screw; if the screw loosens, tighten it! Summary: do not push the limit and expect to cut thick woody branches and this will become an important tool in your gardening arsenal.

A Must Have
I was kind of sceptical about this pruner when I purchased it. The telescoping, the adjustable angle of the pruning head and the ability for the handle to rotate to further give the user that ideal pruning angle and comfort. All of this had me thinking it's too good to be true or it was going to severely reduce the robustness and durability of this pruner. I can happily report that I've put this pruner to use almost daily for several months now, and it is still working like the day I opened it. Pros: -It like having an extra set of hands up to about 6 feet taller than you. -The cut and hold feature sounds minor, but makes a significant difference during clean up and so you don't end up with the eyesore of dead clippings in shrubs. -Adjustable pruning head, telescoping and rotating handle make it much easier to get a proper cut. -Durable construction, no change or drop in performance after several months of pretty rigorous use. -Sharp blades tackle even dead hardwood with relative ease. -Lightweight Cons: -Once in awhile, when using the telescoping feature, the blade and handle don't 'lock' back together so you need to manually push the back of the blade itself just slightly to 'relock' them together. This sounds like a bigger issue than it really is as this is easily remedied in about 5 seconds. Overall, I'd recommend this pruner to just about anyone and everyone that has plants, shrubs or trees. I enjoy this pruner so much I ordered the longer version of it as well, which is has a fully extended length of over 10 ft. Customer service seems to be good as well, I emailed about purchasing replacement blades to keep spares on hand, and they responded in less than 24 hours.

Works well if the branch is not too hard. Does not work well on dead branches.

Sharp and Easy to Use
This pruner is the perfect size for so many types of pruning situations in my garden. I have hand clippers and of course one of those really long handled pruners with the rope pull attached. But there are so many places that these Gartol pruners are perfect for. The handle extends really far and the trigger motion is much easier than [pulling on a rope. The blades are sharp and work well on branches up to an inch thick. I would certainly recommend these.

Updated review; replacement product from seller; customer service
Updated Review: Below you can see the review I made after my original pruner failed. The seller reached out to me and offered to send me a sturdier replacement pruner ( one that does not have a pivoting head ). I gratefully accepted it and have used it to prune several of the same types of branches as before. It works the same as the other. I have attached a third photo of the replacement pruner. While I have yet to see how long this one lasts, I am impressed with the proactive customer service and willingness to make things right. The more famous brand pruners do cost more than this. I can't give 5 stars but will change it from one to three given that any product can fail and more so, the customer service is excellent. Old review: I previously extolled the virtues of this tool. Yes, it worked great and was very effective. But only for 3 pruning sessions! And all on one decorative olive tree. I was using this tool ONLY on the small branches above my head. I'm talking branches no more than a 1/4 inch thick. And soft too. Sure, I got hundreds of snips in but then the internal mechanism that actuates the blade just gave out. Cheap quality. Nothing more than a disposable tool.

I bought the pruner for cutting weeping willow blanches that are higher than the hedge trimmer can cut, they hang straight down so they are hard to cut with regular pruners, the pruners work well but they don’t cut any branches thicker than a pencil, the price is a little high for what you get they are light weight feel a little flimsy, I trimmed my tree with no issues but with time I guess I’ll see how well they hold up.

Offert pour Noël, Les outils semblent de qualité et robustes (à voir à l'usage). Super motif, les couleurs sont très belles. Le petit moins serait qu'il n'y a pas de housse de rangement. Mais je recommande ++, le cadeau à fait son effet.
