Our genuine Panama hat is hand woven and fairly traded in Ecuador. Made from natural "iraca" palm fibre which is far cooler and breathable than synthetic materials or cheap replicas.Panama hats are made and worn all over Latin America, but the traditional Panama hat which has taken its name from the Panama canal, are made in Ecuador. Their flexibility and the fact that you can fold or roll them for traveling, makes them unique. The sizes are in centimeters and based on the circumference of the head passing across the middle of the forehead. Our smallest is 54cm and the largest 62cm. As all our hats are handmade, the brim size varies slightly but it normally measures between 6 cm and 7.5cm. Please choose your size when placing your order - we will gladly exchange your hat for a different size if it turns out to be the wrong one.You may also wish to consider our basic Tumi cardboard Panama travel tube or our Tumi balsa wood Panama travel box. If so, just search for them on .Tumi was founded in 1978 promoting fair trade crafts and goods with Latin America, working closely with organisations such as Traidcraft and Oxfam Trading. Tumi has worked with our hat makers in Ecuador for many years and ensure that we pay a fair price (set by our partners), good working conditions and a sustainable future for our workers. Please note that your hat will not be posted rolled up/folded. It will instead be posted in a box large enough to accommodate it without it being folded. The reason for this is that you should wear a Panama Hat for a few days/week before first rolling it. This allows the hat to adapt to the shape of your head and develop flexibility. Failure to do so will result in damage to the hat and shorten its lifespan.

Keep a cool head with one of these!
My husband needed a hat and having tried several different styles he decided that he wanted a Panama hat - this one was a good choice. It is a lovely pale colour. thanks to choice of sizes it fits him perfectly and it is perfect for travelling as it rolls up and packs really well. A good quality item and compared with other hats we had looked at it is not a horrible price. Well worth considering.

Good quality hat, just consider the size required.
Not sure whether I should have gone for a bigger size or whether will stretch slightly with wear. Measured my head at 56cm and based upon other hat fits went with this size. May be slightly small but am staying with the 56cm size. Having said this the quality of the hat is great.

Really nice
I researched Panama hats extensively before buying and wanted a good one, but not absolute top end for which you can spend hundreds. I'm really pleased with what I received. Very light weight, right size, right material, right colour and properly boxed too.

Limited lifespan
Disappointing.I’ve only used this hat maybe 20 times and after delivery it has only been rolled up twice in its life for a flight and back.Sadly the straw starting cracking despite careful use and storage with splits developing in the crown. I had hoped a hat if this price would have had a much longer lifespan

Fair trade panama
Over the years I have purchased so of the best quality Panama's and although I have had no complaint with them, I was highly delighted with the one i have just received. Nice style, good fit very impressed with the fine weave and the quality, very fast delivery and well packaged, I would have no hesitation in buying in the future and will recommend them to friends

Not best pleased
When the hat arrived I was happy enough. It fitted for a start and as a girl with a head too big for the hats in the shops, this was a great start. It looked pretty good too. The quality wasn't great, think I'd bought one off a beach hawker on holiday once of similar quality but for much cheaper! However the real trouble started when I arrived on holiday. Firstly the band fell off and then inexplicably would no longer fit back on the hat! I bought some glue and squished the hat back inside the band and glued it down. It now felt smaller but was fine. Then the band came apart at the join and I no longer had the glue to stick it back together so it flapped about in the wind. The last straw was when I'd left it on a sun lounger during a rain shower. The hat lost all shape and it was then I finally gave up and put it in the bin. With express postage I'd spent £50 on this hat so I'm not best pleased.

Quality item.
So glad I decided to purchase this item. It's light as a feather, comfortable and certainly keeps my head a lot cooler than my usual baseball cap.Because of the onset of cataracts, when out in the sun I need to wear a hat and, this is perfect. And rolls up perfectly for travelling, (no box or tube is supplied).Overall an excellent purchase.
