Very professional and great looking lettering
I bought both the upper case and lower case tappit sets. I read the reviews on how some people have a love hate relationship with them and how some just give up. I decided to give them a go for the cost and have my own opinion. I personally love them they look great and very professional when placed on a cake and a lot neater than hand icing writing. I took advise from other users and after a you tube video i have them off to a tee now. Make sure your fondant is rolled thinly and allow it to dry for 5 mins, meanwhile dust the letter you wish you cut out with corn flour and tap on the side to remove the excess.press the tappit firmly onto the fondant then i advise personally "slapping / tapping" the tappit over a rolling pin and the letter pops right out. I do it over a rolling pin so that the tappit doesnt accidently squash the letter as it pops out. You can have the odd letter that doesnt want to play but on the whole i would say out of the average of 20 letters that will come out great you will get just 1 that wont.

Great cutters
These are easy to use and both the letters and numbers are a lovely font. I use them a lot. These are actually very easy to use although I hear a lot of complaints about tappits. You need to use modelling or flower paste, fondant is too soft.Roll the paste really thin, then roll it some more. Go and make a cup of tea leaving the rolled paste to dry a little. After about 10 mins, apply a thin layer of cornflour onto the cutters and tap out the excess. Put it onto your modelling paste and give it a good wiggle to cut through.Pick the cutter up and pull off any excess paste from around the letters.Gently tap one end on your work top, I used a kind of flicking motion to do this. The letters then come out really easily.Gently move them with a spatula onto a board to dry out. Easy!

Quite fiddly to use.
This is the first time I have used A tappit set. The instructions do advise you to have the icing really thin before using-- and it does need to be paper thin. I also found it difficult to get the letters out and found the easiest way is to leave them in the tappit to dry and harden before trying to remove. Once out, the letters do look good.

Great!
These teppits were fab and provided the perfect script for my nieces christening cake. If you roll the icing out fairly thin and leave it out a bit so it hardens a little (or maybe add tylose powder to your icing to make gum paste) the letters come out much much easier when you 'tap' them. Watched a few YouTube videos to work out best way of using them and they worked a treat. Really pleased.

Great alternative to writing in icing
These letters are tiny - a bit larger than my thumbnail but look so effective when put on a cake. They took me forever to produce my message though! Definitely easier (as other reviewers say) to make sure sugar paste is slightly dry before using the letters. Even so I ended up using a thin knife to edge the letters out. But when put on the cake it made all my effort worthwhile as they looked brilliant (I painted them silver then applied them with edible glue and tweezers!). I don't look forward to using them again but if like me you can't write neatly in icing then these are a great alternative.

Professional finish on cakes
Some people can’t get on with these. I’ve used them for years. I only use flower paste with these cutters, that has been rolled out thinly and left to dry a minute. They cut easily and you tap them out. I had to replace a very old set that cracked.

not what I expected
I could not find an accurate size other than for the pack, but as they are upper case and look a good size I thought the size would be bigger. The product itself is o k if you require letters 1.5 cm high.

Excellent product gives a professional finish to cakes etc. I have also purchased the lower case set which works equally as well
After a couple of practise runs using this set I found the best way was to roll the fondant/flower paste very thinly and leave to dry for about 15 minutes, then work it into the letters and rub off any excess with fingers which gives smooth edges, stand the cutter up vertically and tap top and bottom edges and then I used a rolling pin to tap the cutter on the flat side a couple of times and the letter popped out easily.
