It does its job and then some!!
I have been canning for more than forty years and have enjoyed all of the processes involved - right - it’s where science meets art meets the physical endurance of any athlete! Ha! After aging and injuries took hold canning was such a struggle - the lifting - the steamed up kitchen making it harder to see and just acclimate to the extra heat. Lifting that old enamel canner - just near to impossible now. Then, I stumbled across this Ball canner! I have to say this canner is the bomb!! I used it for the first time this week and went to town on several recipes! The timer is perfect, the display panel is good. Even with eyesight that is not as good as it used to be - I can see the display well. The instruction book is your friend with this - and very well written! If I could make one suggestion to Ball it would be to put the instructions on one “laminated card” so that when you refer to it again and again while canning - you’re not getting it wet!! The canner worked exactly as expected and did all the things the booklet said it would. One thing I missed but was clearly in the booklet: when the canner is processing a batch - it sometimes sounds like it’s turning off or slowing down (you’ll notice it’s not bubbling the same). . Initially I thought it was broken- nope! The canner knows its temperature and to stay at temperature it slows itself down (this is in the booklet). Another awesome quality about this canner is that the kitchen doesn’t become a sauna! It’s such a good solid piece of equipment. The spigot is fantastic! Zero lifting!! ZERO lifting! I’ve not had it long enough to speak about rust resistance however I did put the vinegar in the water as suggested bball in the booklet. To test the canner out I did several different recipes and they all set just fine and processed very well. No issues in a single batch out of seven plus recipes. I wasn’t sure when I was purchasing this product if it would indeed be worth the money - hands down the best thing I’ve bought in years!!! It truly is a game changer. The best part: I had thought my canning days were gone - another favorite thing I’d have to let go of because of how much I could no longer do physically. This technology and brilliant design of this canner has made it all possible again! So thank you to the design folks at Ball who had the vision to make a product that would respond to the needs of their consumers. Great job. To anyone reading these reviews - I’ve learned a lot from the reviews here - the take away from my review to you - is: don’t wait! You’ve earned this canner ;) and if you’re a canner you know what I mean. Just get it lol !!

Best investment
This is one of the best inventions for a hot water bath canner. It’s electric, I put it right by the sink so when I’m done can I just flip up the little nozzle to drain out all the hot water, no dumping anything out. It is easy to clean. Is very sturdy, for processing time, it has a timer on it that when it is done processing, it shuts off so you’re not having to stay there and babysit it. The heating is determined by the thermometer that is naturally built in and knows already how hot the water needs to be. I think everybody needs one of these.

Great canner
Love this canner! Absolutely fool proof and easy to use. Eliminates the need for the stove and makes canning almost hands off. I love the fact that it starts the timer automatically once the water starts boiling after putting the filled jars in the canner. It also is quite big and can hold lots of jars, even the quarts.

So far this Water Bath Canner is working great.
I read all the reviews before buying and the only negatives seemed minor so I decided to give it a try. I have a gas stove and water bath canning on my stove really heats up my kitchen so I was looking for a better option. The instructions are very few and very easy to understand. The negative comments I noticed from others were just a few. I have a bit of experience with hot bath canning so I'm comfortable with some shortcuts I'm taking. If you are new to water bath canning, I'd recommend you follow all guidelines and instructions given for this canner. 1. Not being able to skip the step to heat jars when not needed. For what I have done I needed to heat jars so that wasn't an issue however I did find that it seems to go above and beyond the heat level needed before filling. I start taking my jars out when I feel they are hot enough to fill so by the time the canner works thru this cycle I normally have my jars full and back in the pot ready to move on the Processing. If you are cold packing your jars and then needing to process I really don't have any suggestions. 2. Setting the timer for the amount of processing time. Yes you do have to hit the plus sign alot of times especially if you need longer processing times but really this takes less than a minute. It would have been nice if the plus sign advanced to 5 minute increments because that would have worked perfectly but still no big deal. Also if you fail to press next after setting the time the canner will turn off and you have to start over:( This is a bit frustrating cause it then has to work thru hitting jars before moving on to processing but since water is already hot this moves thru pretty quickly 3. I love that once Jars are filled and I set the processing time (and press next) I truly can walk away and not baby sit like I do boiling water on the stove top. 4. I love the spout for draining water but I find when I'm doing a lot of canning I just leave the water in the pot with lid on for the next day's canning job. 5. I think I'll also enjoy this pot to make big batches of sauces, soups and stews and reducing the use of my gas top stove to keep my kitchen cooler:)

Fabulous canner
This scanner is amazing. The fact that I can put clean jars in, fill it up with water and it will preheat them and keep them warm until I’m ready to fill them as amazing and then it easily is set for the minutes I need to process and cool down. Super easy to clean.

Makes Canning Not Quite so Tiring
I took up canning during the pandemic and it has become a hobby of sorts since we now live near excellent farmers' markets. My previous canner was the old-school giant pot with a rack and developed rust so I replaced it with this one. It does make the canning process easier. No more lugging the heavy pot filled with water back and forth to the stove-top, and it keeps track of the timing of everything so well, easing the burden of constantly watching the water for boiling and keeping time. Canning is still a lot of work, but this device does ease it a lot. It also will work as a steamer or giant pot for a large stew or chili for a crowd! So it's pretty versatile.

Highly recommend this product. I am relatively new to canning (& preserving) and this product has made the process so much easier. It is true that starting with warm or hot water accelerates the first feature. I agree with other reviews that the controls are not easy to work with and the spigot doesn't drain the pot completely however, the full beginning to end result is less time consuming. I have a very small and limited kitchen space so sterilizing/preheating the jars feature works for me. It's easy to clean, easy to empty and easy to store. I recommend this for anyone who is learning how to can. An excellent investment so far and will edit this review after a few more batches.

At first I was skeptical if it was truly worth it, because of the price. I do a lot of canning, and I have a glass-top stove so I'm often concerned about the weight on the stovetop when I have a big pot of sauce cooking, along with my pot for water bath canning. It's so convenient to be able to set it up next to the sink for easy filling and draining. You can set the temperature to high to get it to come to a boil, and skip the jar sanitizing stage if you're like me and use your dishwasher to clean your jars ahead of time and heat them in the oven before filling. At first, like other reviewers I thought that it took a long time to heat up, but I once compared it to my large pot of boiling water and the stove top was only a few minutes faster.

Absolutely wonderful. A grate canning asset. I even double stacked some jam in smaller jars. Very happy with it.
