Survival of the Fittest
Overall, I liked this kit, and think it will serve us well in our camping adventures. Nearly everything seems to be well-made, and a few of the items are especially intriguing. The multi-function spork, for example -- kind of an ingenious design on that alone. The stylized bottle holder, though, seems like a pretty niche function; I'm not sure if I'd ever use it, especially in a survival situation.Again, this is mostly pretty great, and it definitely has a manly feel to it. A few drawbacks for me, though. First, there's no labeling anywhere, on the mailing package or on the case or in the case. I had to go back to the product description on the website to figure out everything. (Which was, for the most part, a fun time of discovery.) The little funky pocket card had its own description card, to be fair, so that helped. Also, they feature "fishing tools," but as far as I can tell, it's just one piece of fake bait (not even a hook?).The worst thing was the knife. The blade and hilt seemed pretty good, but it doesn't lock -- which makes it not only nearly useless, but downright dangerous to use. If I ever use it, I may drill a screw or something into where it's supposed to lock. Might be worth it since the basic knife seems useful. All in all, a decent kit with a few flaws. The rundown ...Quality -- generally pretty good, although the knife is nearly non-functional. 4/5Utility -- Fun, useful stuff overall. Not sure how useful the fake bait is without a hook, or if you'd need a belt bottle opener in a survival situation, but otherwise good. A label or a card would be helpful. Also, making the case itself useful in another way would be not only helpful but appealing; could be another selling point. 4/5Parity -- Despite the flaws, I think the price is fair and comparable to other similar items.

Quality
My grandson was absolutely thrilled. He thought it was Christmas in may. I was surprised at the quality of all the contents at such a low price.

It was a perfect gift for Father's Day
I decided to get this survival kit for two of my sons for Father's Day. I gave it to one of my sons, and he loves it. My other son won't get his until he comes into town, but he loves things like this, so I am sure he will love his as well. Everything was in the pack. I wish instructions had been included for the function of everything, instead of us having to figure out some of the features, like the whistle and the fire starter, which are on the compass bracelet. Other than that, this was a perfect gift.
